Thank you Pattaya
Derek Franklin
The recent appeal to the people for Pattaya to donate food on World Food
Day ensured the children of the Father Ray Foundation will not go to bed
feeling hungry.
Local
folks came through in a big way, donating food and necessities to the Father
Ray Foundation.
Many individuals, schools and businesses arrived at the Foundation, some
carrying bags of food while others arrived with pick-up trucks full of
essentials.
Thanks go to the families, friends and colleagues of John Potter and John
Ladbrook for their huge donation of not just food but also sports equipment,
toiletries and clothes. Workers from Foster Wheeler, DOW, Kaefer Insulation,
MAS, Sino Thai, Cape and BJC Heavy Industries Ltd also came to the aid of
the children.
The students of the Regents School and St. Andrews International School, as
well as members of the Pattaya Sports Club, donated food that will be used
to feed the 850 underprivileged children and students with disabilities who
are currently living at the Father Ray Foundation.
Many individuals, Thai and foreign, also arrived and donated gallons of
cooking oil, dried noodles, canned fish, coconut milk, fish sauce and
cartons of milk.
The Father Ray Foundation can only feed those in its care with the help of
donations. The annual SOS Rice Appeal will be taking place in early
December, and as in previous years the generosity shown by the people of
Pattaya to those in need will, we hope, surpass all expectations.

“Woody” Underwood present a certificate of thanks to Neil Maniquiz, head of
Bangkok Hospital Pattaya’s International Marketing and his deputy, Janya
Rattanaliam.
Bernie Tuppin
On Thursday, October 25, Woody [Lewis Underwood], chairman of Jesters
Care for Kids, made a visit to Bangkok Hospital Pattaya to meet with Neil
Maniquiz, head of International Marketing and his deputy, Janya Rattanaliam. The
purpose of the visit was to present the hospital with a plaque to recognize
their valued contribution to Jesters Children’s Fairs over the past 11 years.
The annual Jesters’ Fairs have been held for 14 years now without any serious
incidents, but this does not mean that safety precautions should be ignored.
Bangkok Hospital Pattaya recognizes this and since 2002, they have had an
ambulance with trained staff on site to quickly respond should they be required.
This facility has provided the organizers with great comfort knowing that
professional assistance was always close at hand should it be needed. In
addition, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya has had a booth at the Fair for all of these
years to give free blood pressure tests and information to the visitors about
the many medical services available at their hospital.
In thanking the hospital and staff, Woody remarked that although he valued their
attendance and hoped it would continue into the future, he also hoped that their
emergency services would never be needed.
