Centara will be managing the hotel under a contract signed in February 2010
with the Cliff Residence Company Limited, a division of the Tulip Group.
The newly built nine-storey hotel will have 161 rooms and suites and is
being developed under a budget of 1.1 billion baht including land.
“We have worked very closely with the Tulip Group to bring this project to
fruition, and we are delighted to be announcing the opening date,” says
Thirayuth Chirathivat, chief executive officer of Centara Hotels & Resorts.
“The location is superb, being in the centre of the exclusive Pratamnak
district and within just two minutes of Pratamnak Beach, and the design of
the hotel is that of understated club-like luxury.
“We have enormous confidence in the future of Pattaya, and regard this
beautiful property as being an important strategic step in our growth
plans.”

The hotel will have an all-day restaurant named Oceana
serving international and Thai cuisines and featuring a huge aquarium as its
design theme. Other outlets include a rooftop restaurant named Altezza that
will serve Italian cuisine and comfort food against a spectacular setting of
ocean and city, a deli called Crumbs, and a French-inspired bistro.
There will also be a Spa Cenvaree, a fitness centre and a swimming pool.
“This property is completely different in style and locality to our other
three hotels in Pattaya, and gives us a very strong addition to our
marketing options,” says Chris Bailey, senior vice president for sales and
marketing at Centara Hotels & Resorts.
“We can now offer a five-star hotel in the very desirable resort area of
Pratamnak Hill, just 90 metres from the beach, and with its air of discrete
luxury and its very high quality restaurants we feel the hotel will appeal
to travellers who rate style and individuality as being an essential part of
their travel experience.”
Bailey says the hotel will also be aimed at the MICE sector, with its Excel
meetings facility that offers two function rooms and an adjacent lounge.
“The events facilities will be especially attractive for companies with
business interests in the region, and for local and Bangkok residents
organising private parties and receptions,” he says.

Namtok Khao Chamao (Chamao Mountain Waterfall)
![](pictures/t3-Namtok-1.jpg)
The stream that forms the Namtok Khao Chamao (Chamao Mountain Waterfall)
originates from the Chamao mountaintop and flows for 3 km down 8 levels,
which are moderately physically demanding. Each level has a distinctive
beauty depending on its natural surroundings. The trail up the eight tiers
of the waterfall cuts through a tropical broad-leaved evergreen forest and
mixes exercise with relaxation.
![](pictures/t3-Namtok-2.jpg)
The initial part is paved with concrete but the rest you will need to follow
a sufficiently well-defined trail and hop from rock to rock. Along the way,
you will see colorful butterflies and big dipterocarp trees more than a
hundred years old. Carp can be found in all levels of the stream. It takes
about two hours to get to the top-most level.
First level - Wang Nueng is a stream flowing through rocks, large and small
similarly to rapids of a river, with basins in various places.
![](pictures/t3-Namtok-3.jpg)
Second level - Wang Matcha is the highlight of this destination. It is a
large and deep basin and home to numerous carp. A waterfall flows down from
the northern side of the basin. Tourists can feed the carp and view the
scenery from the rope bridge here.
Third level - Wang Morakot is a clear, emerald green basin like a natural
swimming pool. At the end of a pool is a large slated rock that you can lay
down upon and have the waterfall bathe you.
Fourth level - Wang Sai Ngam is a relatively deep basin surrounded by banyan
trees.
Fifth level - Pha Kluamai - During the early months of the year the various
orchids on the cliff will bloom.
Sixth level - Chong Khaep - The waterway in this area flows in a narrow
channel between many layers of rock.
![](pictures/t3-Namtok-4.jpg)
Seventh level - Hok Sai - This level has a water fall 7 m high. During the
dry season the water falls in 6 different paths. You can enter the basin at
the bottom and enjoy the cool refreshing water.
Eighth level - Pha Sung - The final level of the stream. It is the highest
point of the waterfall situated 1 km away from level 7. The trail is quite
rugged. When you get there, you will see water flowing down from the tall
mountain covering the entire area with mist.
Know Before You Go: If the water changes color or flows more quickly, or if
you hear the warning signal, leave the water and find a safe area because it
may be a signal of an incoming flash flood.
Suggestions: Stop by Heaven Cliff, a scenic area that is 1.5 km to the north
of the National Park office. The trail leading to Heaven Cliff goes through
bamboo forest and cycad trees. When the sky is clear, you can clearly see
the Koh Samet from here.

Regional Thai airline Solar Air this month will begin flights to
Bangkok, Chumphon and Siam Reap, Cambodia from U-Tapao-Pattaya International
Airport.
Solar Aviation Co. CEO Jirathat Ongaaree on Oct. 26 said service using its
18-seat aircraft will begin Nov. 9. The Siam Reap and Chumphon flights are
being done in partnership with South Pattaya’s Maxx Royal Tour Co.
“U-Tapao has potential for tourism and commercial services thanks to its
ongoing development,” Jirathat said. “It offers advantages in travelling as
being only 30 kilometers from Pattaya.”
While the Solar Air executive hailed the airport runway’s ability to handle
jumbo jets, the airline will use small Dornier 228 planes with 18 seats to
service the Koh Tao, Siam Reap and capital areas. Flights to Chumphon and
Cambodia will run four days a week.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome hailed the new flights, saying the routes will save
tourists time and money.
