Non-profit organization Green Pattaya is teaming up with local businesses, organizations and communities to hold the Big Buddha Hill Clean-Up campaign on Pratamnak Hill on Sunday, May 12. This is the second regular clean up event held by Green Pattaya and this time it will be at Wat Phra Yai (the Big Buddha Temple) and the hill surrounding the temple. The event starts 2 p.m. at the temple grounds with group photos and refreshments, with the cleaning work taking place between 3 - 6 p.m. The organizers request the help of volunteers with some spare time to come along and help make Pattaya a better and cleaner place. The Pattaya Soul Club will be holding its second charity fund-raising party of 2013 on Saturday, May 25 at the White Horse Pub @ Khao Talo from 8 p.m. onwards. Linda’s Restaurant can be all things for all people. Serving a wide selection of Norwegian dishes, there are also abundant European/international dishes, as well as a full line-up of Thai items. The food is excellent and the portion sizes tending to be on the large side, and the prices reasonable. The wine list is also inexpensive. This restaurant is definitely worth visiting. A short introduction to Hinduism titled “Shiva The Cosmic Dancer” will be presented by Margot Weinmann and organized by NMV Pattaya at 10.00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at the North Star Library, Sukhumvit Rd. The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, May 12. Everyone is warmly welcome. Club member Tony Heron will moderate a general discussion about current events. The discussion will include late-breaking news. The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) organizes regular lunches and coffee mornings on the first and third Tuesday of every month. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone. Estes Post 9876 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America is a social group in Pattaya that helps American Veterans and their dependants with benefit assistance related to the Veterans Administration, Social Security and service related agencies.
