On the occasion of the 19th anniversary of Henry J. Bean’s Bar & Grill located at the Amari Watergate Bangkok, the longest macadamia nut roulade cake was baked whereby slices were sold to raise money for the Baht for Better Life Project. A party to celebrate the success of the ‘Wheelchair Rally’ organised by Thammasat University and Thailand Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) was held at the A-One the Royal Cruise Hotel Pattaya recently. Somchai Rattanaopath (2nd right), President of the A-One Hotel was on hand to welcome the participating guests of honour which included Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh (2nd left), Boorish Prasopsub (right), Executive Director of TAT Eastern Region, and Krissana Lalai (centre), TV personality and a staunch campaigner to improve the lives of the physically challenged.

As part of their on-going projects to help the community, the management of the Amari Orchid Pattaya presented a 10 metre long persimmon-almond cake to residents of the Karunyawet Home for the Disabled recently. Director of the home Jitra Temeesrisuk welcomed the benevolent group which also included Thitima Sungpitak (Mam), TV actor and producer.

Asia BackPackers-Pattaya was awarded a certification by Dream Hygiene in recognition for being the first hostel in Thailand to meet a 27 point plan regarding reducing the effects on allergy sufferers (full details on the 27 Point Plan see dreamhygiene.com). Statistics given by world health authorities show that 20% of the world’s population suffers from allergies. At the 7th Pattaya Food & Hotelier Expo’13 recently the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya team was named 1st runner up. The resort won the trophy for their total score throughout the competition, including winning the Golden Trophy for being the Overall Champion in the Kitchen Summary category, with twelve prizes for kitchen and food & beverage, along with winning the Golden Trophy for being the Overall Champion in the Spa Competition, during which they earned four spa prizes.
