Events

The Green Pattaya community, together with the Human Help Network Foundation Thailand, will conduct a clean-up of the Cosy Beach area of Pratumnak Hill from 09.00 to 12.00 on Saturday, Nov. 23. Volunteers are requested to dress for the occasion, i.e. wear long sleeves and a hat if you don’t want to get sunburned. Water, soft drinks, health fruits and snacks will be provided. The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, Nov. 24. Everyone is warmly welcome. The speaker will be Club Member Doug Campbell on the topic of “Communications Breakdowns.” The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9 to 11 a.m.

The Pattaya Long Boat Races will be held over the weeked Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November from 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at Lake Mabprachan in east Pattaya. The boat races and will be accompanied by the usual fete and food stalls.

Athletes from more than 15 countries will compete for 300,000 baht in prizes at the Sawasdee Cup International Badminton tournament which is being held at the Eastern National Indoor Sports Arena in Pattaya from 22th-24th November. More than 15 countries will be represented, including badminton players from Australia, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the United States.

Bangkok’s annual Ploenchit Fair will be held this year on Sunday, November 24 from 10.00 am - 8.00 pm at the Patana School, 643 Soi La Salle, Sukhumvit 105. The Fair will offer games, rides and competitions for the kids and adults while the main stage will host a variety of excellent bands and performers throughout the day. A mind boggling array of food and drink will also be available from some of the best bars and restaurants in Bangkok. Attendees can do all their Christmas shopping at the Petticoat Lane Bazaar where some 70 vendors will be selling handicrafts, home wares, clothes and accessories, books, jewellery and more. This year’s Pattaya International Fireworks Festival will take place on the evenings of Nov 29 & 30. The festival will feature 45-minute shows by teams from Canada, China, Singapore and the United States with four Thai celebrities acting as honorary team captains. There will also be booths selling locally made products, a carnival-style parade, shows, concerts, magic and juggling acts and 3D painting photography along Beach Road. The Beach Road will be closed to traffic between 3:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

The Pattaya Soul Club will be holding a 2nd Anniversary Special Event on Saturday, November 30 at the White Horse Pub on Soi Khao Talo from 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
