HRH Princess Ubolratana visits Bangkok Airways’ booth at ITB 2014

HRH Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Phannavadi visited Bangkok Airways’ booth at the fairground of Internationale Tourismus Boerse 2014 (ITB) currently held in Berlin, Germany.
HRH the Princess was greeted by Bangkok Airways’ President - Capt. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth (seated, far right), together with M.L. Nandhika Varavarn (seated, 2nd left),Vice President, Corporate Communications; Peter Wiesner (back, 2nd right), Senior Vice President - Network Management; and executives from the sales department.
ITB Berlin is respected as the word’s leading travel show and was held in Berlin until March 9, 2014. Bangkok Airways first entered the fair in 1998.


Dusit Thani Pattaya appoints a new Director of Sales - Corporate

Dusit Thani Pattaya General Manager Chatchawal Supachayanont recently appointed Tanaphol Rodpinyo as the new director of sales in charge of the corporate segment in Pattaya and the Eastern Seaboard.
Rodpinyo began his career with the Dusit brand hotel soon after graduating from Dusit International’s Management Training Program. His previous role as associate director of sales gave him the opportunity to explore the vast potential of the corporate market in the region as he led his team in creating strategies to keep a tight grip on the market share.
Rodpinyo has worked with Dusit Thani Pattaya since 2008 and acknowledges that with the fast booming status of Pattaya and its neighboring areas, there is still so many business opportunities to capture while welcoming challenges such as the stiff but healthy business competition that comes along with providing service to the corporate market for either leisure or business purpose of stay.


Bangkok Airways offers iPad minis as in-flight entertainment

Bangkok Airways will be offering iPad minis as in-flight entertainment for its Blue Ribbon Class passengers. Starting from March 3rd, business travelers flying Bangkok Airways can enjoy some rest and relaxation time with an iPad mini thousands of feet in the air.
The iPad minis, supplied by Bluebox Avionics, will come equipped with a wide range of movie content including the latest Hollywood released movies, TV shows and music along with various interactive games.
Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, Bangkok Airways’ president said, “Delivering an outstanding passenger experience is at the heart of our ethos at Bangkok Airways. We are already famous for our on-board boutique service, but we wanted to go an extra mile to ensure that our business class travelers’ flying experience is more pleasurable and enjoyable.”
The iPad minis will be offered to all business class travelers at no cost. During the trial-run periods, this service will be available on flights between Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi)-Maldives, Samui-Hong Kong and Samui-Singapore.

THAI organizes 1st TG Travel Green Innovation Competition

On March 7, Chokchai Panyayong, THAI Senior Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, and Acting President, along with Marie-Louise Phillippe, Airbus Regional Sales Director, chaired the award presentation ceremony of the First TG Travel Green Innovation Competition, which encourages Thai youths to be creative in the area of green aviation innovation. First prize is a roundtrip ticket from Bangkok to Paris on THAI and a visit to the Airbus aircraft manufacturing center in Toulouse, France.
In an effort to boost environmental awareness, the company invited students from academic institutions nationwide to participate and submit their projects during November 2013 – January 2014. The competition goals were to create environmentally friendly innovations and products that may be used in aviation and to create a network for youths who have an interest in designing environmentally friendly innovations and products.
The competition was judged by representatives from Airbus, the National Innovation Agency, a professor from the Faculty of Engineering at Kasetsart University, a professor from the Faculty of Architecture at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Ladkrabang, and a THAI representative.
Students from 18 institutions across the country participated in the competition and submitted 72 projects as an individual contestant or as a two-member team, with a professor as an advisor.
The competition consisted of three categories, with three awards per category. First place includes a roundtrip ticket from Bangkok to Paris on THAI and a visit to the Airbus aircraft manufacturing center in France sponsored by Airbus. Second place is a roundtrip ticket from Bangkok to Japan and third place is a roundtrip ticket from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.


Sunshine Hotels and Resorts appoints new group general manager

Sunshine Hotels and Resorts Group takes much pleasure in confirming the appointment of its new group general manager, Wouter Andre Banning, a native of The Netherlands.
Banning came to Sunshine Hotels and Resorts in October last year with extensive hospitality and management experience gained in The Netherlands, the United States, Thailand, South Korea and China.
Having worked in Asia since 2007, he joined us following 18 months as general manager of 272 serviced apartments at the Fraser Residence in Shanghai. Prior to that he spent a similar period of time taking care of the 237 serviced apartments as general manager at Fraser Place in the Central Business District of Seoul.
Banning is no stranger to Pattaya, where he has gained valuable experience as general manager of Resorts and Boutique Serviced Apartments following 14 months as executive assistant manager of the Novotel Lotus (224 rooms) and Regency Park (120 rooms) Hotels in Bangkok.
Banning is bilingual in Dutch and English, speaks reasonable German and French plus basic Thai. He will be responsible for operational, sales, strategic and financial management of all properties belonging to Sunshine Hotels and Resorts, comprising seven hotels, resorts and serviced apartments with a total of more than 1200 rooms in the Pattaya area.
