Sponsored by Glencore International and Canadian Jackalope Open
Nathawat, shown here with
Bernie and Erle during the monthly rice distribution, had out grown his
wheelchair, compelling his mother to try and carry him around.

Our main focus is on our annual September events now, which are
nearly upon us. Yet, at the same time, we continue our fund-raising for the
benefit of underprivileged kids, who need shelter free of abuse,
scholarships for school and special learning for the handicapped. If you are
interested in helping, please go to donation @care4kids.info.
Our Jesters Children’s Fair is 17 days
from now!
Our fair is just over two weeks from now at the Regents
International School Pattaya. Specifically, the site for the fair will be on
the grassy oval amid the spacious grounds of the school on Sunday, September
7th, starting at 10 a.m. Shuttle buses will be available on the day from
Central Pattaya in front of the Father Ray Foundation on Sukhumvit Highway.

City Hall.
For those interested in booking fair stalls, please act
soon as they are going quickly. The fee is 2000 baht and payment can be made
at: Fountain of Life Center, Krung Thai Bank, Pattaya Klang, account no.
227-1-36586-4, KRTHTHBK. Once you have done this, please send an email to:
fairsitecoordinator@care 4kids.info.
Rock concert is planned for the Fair!
We call it the ‘Children’s Fair’, but actually there is something
for all ages. Typically on fair day, the toddlers perform in the morning,
teen bands in the afternoon and, at the end of the day, a rock concert for
the adults. This year we will extend that time slot for the latter from 4:30
p.m. until closing. The headliner will be Slow Ride featuring dynamic lead
singer, Mary.
Jesters provide wheelchair for 11-year old boy
In the meantime, we recently presented a wheelchair to Nathawat,
an 11-year old handicapped boy, who cannot walk. Previously he had a
wheelchair but, besides being rickety, he had out grown it too, compelling
his mother to try and carry him around.
Jesters Gala Party Night follows the Fair 13 days later
The second event is our Gala Party Night, which is on Saturday,
September 20th at the Amari Orchid Pattaya. This sit-down buffet dinner
affair, which includes complementary wine/beer, entertainment, auctions and
grand raffle drawings, has been a hit with the community.
Tables are filling fast, so if you would like to book a place the cost is
2400 baht. Please contact: vicechairperson @care4kids.info.
Ways you can still help now:
* You can become a corporate or individual sponsor. This
continues to be the primary source of our fund-raising year round.
* You can buy grand raffle tickets ahead of our Gala Party Night, as well as
make bids on our current auction through our website.
* You can donate a case of canned beer to the Jesters Beer Tent. Your
donation will increase in value as the beer is sold on the day of the fair.
Beer sales typically cover the entire setup cost for the event. If
interested, please go to http://www.care4kids
.info/events/childrens-fair.html.

SUS Kindergarten students
clean up our beaches
A group of about 70 environmentally-conscious kindergarten
students from Satit Udomseuksa School swarmed Jomtien Beach on Friday 8th August
for their annual clean the community service activity.
Parents, teachers and students slapped on gloves and grabbed some bags to pick
up trash that had floated ashore. The goal was to bring students together to
work on different environmental projects while learning about the area’s fragile
ecosystem and to leave the location cleaner than when the students arrived. It
was a great day teaching students about cooperation and team building.

Students from Garden International School (GIS) are celebrating after some
stunning IGCSE results.
Among the star students were Syuen Wei Tang, or Jason, who was awarded 10
passes, including 4 A*s and 5 As. Arpan Ojha gained 9 passes, all ranging from
A*-B, while Hui Eun Park was awarded 8 IGCSEs - 7 of which were A* - and Pauline
Gallemit landed 9 A*-C grades.
In total, 73 percent of students gained between an A*-C grade, which is in line
with the global average.
John Caules gained 7 passes, Coco Atkinson was awarded 8 IGCSEs, while
Pornchanok Pornthipsakul (Khing) gained 8 passes, of which all but one were A*
or As.
Elsewhere, Vishal Iyer had 9 grades between A*-B. Marisa Bodemer gained 8 passes
- despite only studying at GIS for one year - and Bunluxsa Pisitpitthayaseree
(May), Patrick Van Der Poel, Polin Cercleron, Tak Tirakayos and Piyaporn Doowa
(Neha) also scored 8 passes.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is run by
Cambridge International Examinations. It is the world’s leading examination for
16-year-olds and is similar to the GCSE tests which UK-based students sit.
In addition to the Year 11 scores, there was good news this year for younger
students. For the first time, Year 9 students also took one IGCSE, in English as
a Second Language. The 15 students had a 100 percent pass rate, with everyone
gaining between an A*-C. This included Shomit Ghosh, who got an A* and Shilpi
Dhar, who is now the youngest student at GIS to ever pass an IGCSE.
Many of the successful Year 11 students will now start the International
Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at GIS.
IGCSE Coordinator Chris Stokes said, “These results again show the level of
commitment and hard work that is put in by not only the students, but also the
teachers and staff at GIS. It also demonstrates the great talent and great minds
that we have.”
GIS is based in Ban Chang, near Pattaya.
Year 9 all passed their first ever
IGCSE, including Shilpi (right) the youngest GIS student to ever be awarded an
IGCSE.
