Green Pattaya will conduct another volunteer clean-up day on Pratumnak Hill (Big Buddha Hill) on Saturday, July 6. Volunteers are more than welcome to come along anytime on Saturday to help out starting from 1 p.m. onwards. As it is the hot season, if you don’t want to get sunburned wear long sleeves and a hat; however, the sponsors will provide some free t-shirts, polo shirts and caps. Some of the cleaning takes part at the temple so no “sexy” clothing if you wish to clean inside the temple sala (hall). The Code and ECPAT International invites tourism professionals in Pattaya City to attend a one day workshop on protecting children against commercial sexual exploitation in travel and tourism, which includes the prostitution of children, child sex tourism and the sex trafficking of children. Sponsored by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ECPAT Netherlands, the workshop is free of charge but space is limited to 25 participants. The 2013 King’s Cup Pattaya City Marathon will take place on the morning of Sunday, July 21 with the runners setting off from a start point outside the Central Pattaya Beach shopping mall. The event will incorporate a full marathon 42.195 km, half marathon 21.100 km, quarter marathon 10.550 km, student run 3.500 km and wheelchair marathon 42.195 km. The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, July 7. Everyone is warmly welcome. In addition to the scheduled Annual General Meeting, there will be a Tai Chi demonstration by Alessandro Marmello, a 2009 Italian martial arts champion. The Club meets every Sunday morning at The Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9 to 11 a.m.

The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) organizes regular lunches and coffee mornings on the first and third Tuesday of every month. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone. Estes Post 9876 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America is a social group in Pattaya that helps American Veterans and their dependants with benefit assistance related to the Veterans Administration, Social Security and service related agencies.
