Chaine members in kilts

Kim Caula (centre) presents David
and Shirley Rice with certificates of appreciation at the Chaine des Routisseurs
Scotch Whiskey Appreciation evening.
A little piece of Scotland came to Pattaya last week. The
latest Chaine des Routisseurs event was a Scotch Whiskey Appreciation evening
and was held at the Royal Garden resort. The event was hosted by Chevalier David
S. Rice and Maitre de Table Restaurateur Carlos Monterade.
The evening brought a true flavour of Scotland to its members with bagpipe
music, appropriate cuisine, combined with the taste of a true Scottish delicacy,
a haggis. Following the din-ner, the highlight of the evening was the sampling
of a variety of Scotch whiskies along with an explanation of the origins and
production of whiskey in Scotland.
David and Carlos were supported by David’s wife, Shirley, who contributed to the
evening by supplying the recipes and demonstrating to the hotel staff the
preparation of the various course.
Pattaya Mail has requested David Rice to share with them his knowledge of Scotch
ably demonstrated during that evening. Readers should look out for a future
article.
