S.P.R.C. Women’s Group visits Eastern Child Welfare Protection Institute
On May 21, 1997, representatives of the Star Petroleum
Refining Company (S.P.R.C.) delivered toiletry bags to the 120 girls at the
Eastern Child Welfare Protection Institute (E.C. W.P.I.) located outside of Map
Ta Phut. Inside the toiletry bags were toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.,
generously donated by S.P.R.C. ladies at a preview luncheon hosted by Mrs.
Sylvia Romano.
The presentation of the gifts coincided with the completion of the renovation of
the two bathroom facilities. The remodeling, re-tiling and painting of the
bathrooms was made possible by funds generated by the S.P.R.C. Women’s Group.
These funds also paid for the completion of a basketball court which the girls
are now actively using. How rewarding to see donations being utilized.
S.P.R.C. members were also pleased to see the E.C.W.P.I. staff using the DEC Dx2
66 MHz computer with 450 MB hard drive donated by S.P.R.C. directly.
The S.P.R.C. Women’s Group hopes to continue to support the Eastern Child
Welfare Protection Institute exemplifying S.P.R.C.’s commitment to being an
active and responsible community member.
