Pattaya Festival will be celebrated from April 11th through April 19th. Pattaya City, together with TAT and private organizations, organizes a great 9 days & 9 nights’ festival. It starts on Saturday, April 11 at 5:00 p.m. with the opening ceremony on Beach Road near the TAT office, followed by a big parade. The festival will bring famous movie stars to Pattaya, who will participate in a Flea market with all the proceeds being donated to charity. Concerts by well-known Thai musicians will be held every day on the beach, and clown shows every evening at Wat Chai Mongkol (intersection South Pattaya-Second Road). For the thirsty there will be a beer drinking contest every evening on the beach. Non zymurgical types may buy Thai handicrafts and enjoy cultural shows. A special family charity rally is scheduled for Saturday the 18th. The beach will be the scene of a romantic, starlit dance. All festival events are free. Come and enjoy! Songkran, the traditional South Asian New Year is celebrated in on April 12, 13, 14 and 15. Associated with life giving water, elders are blessed by having lustral water poured on their hands. Pattaya, ever free, explores the ‘carnival’ atmosphere of the holiday on April 19th. People from all over Thailand are expected to come to Pattaya to join this spectacle. Songkran in Pattaya is a giant water fight. If you don’t like being wet, stay off the streets. All in good fun, though. It is advised that very casual clothing be worn.

The Royal Cliff Beach Resort "Easter Sunday Fair" is on April 12th from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Featured are crafts, food stalls, a beer tent, games, a treasure hunt, and a raffle draw with great prizes. Admission free!

The following day, the Royal Cliff Beach Resort will celebrate the beginning of the Thai New Year with an exotic buffet and traditional water-pouring ceremony at the main pool. The Royal Garden Resort is celebrating Songkran beginning at 7:00 p.m. Featured is an International Buffet with dishes from Thailand’s four regions. There will be Traditional Thai dance. Later, guests may dance in the cool moonlight.

A merit making ceremony will be held on April 13th in the Rose Garden Room of the Royal Garden Resort. The solemn ceremony begins at 9:00 a.m. Food will be offered to monks.

The Atrium Café at the Ambassador City is featuring a Thai Food Festival to celebrate Songkran. This special promotion is on from April 11th to 14th at dinner time from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. for only Baht 220 net. From the 12th of April until the 14th, the Atrium Café is also serving lunch for 190 net from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

On April 13th, the Ambassador City will be holding a traditional food offering to monks from 6:45 until 8:00 a.m., and a merit making ceremony, the not less traditional Songnampra, at their Sunset Lawn from 7:00 to 16:00 hours. Guests are invited to attend both ceremonies. Tickets, in exchange for food for the monks, can be bought at the Ocean Wing Lobby for the price of 50 Baht.

The Miss Alcazar Contest will be held on April 19th at the Alcazar Theatre on Second Road. The most beautiful transvestites from all over the country will come together for this pageant. It is advised to purchase tickets in advance, otherwise there will not be a single seat available to watch this spectacle.
