Cyclo-Dashing for Charity

100s turn out for St. Andrews Cyclo Dash & Children’s Fair

The greatly anticipated St. Andrews Cyclo Dash and Children’s Fair, held on 5th February, was a wonderful success. It was very well attended by people from all over Pattaya and the Eastern Seaboard who came along to help raise funds to support the Camillian Center. The day began with the arrival of the Cyclo Dashers, bright and early, and so began the marvellous atmosphere and great camaraderie that continued throughout the entire day. The weather got warmer and the going got tougher but resilience and determination seemed to be the motto of those taking part. There were over 60 starters competing, ranging in age from 8 years to 50 plus. Everybody enjoyed the biathlon course, especially the off road section! The winners of the various categories were awarded the beautiful gold, silver and bronze medals in a ceremony later in the afternoon. Well done to everybody for taking part in the whole event which was great fun! The Children’s Fair was ‘bouncing’ all day long! The ‘Bouncy Castle’ was a great hit with all the children and it wasn’t empty for one second! The pony rides were a popular option and the children were thoroughly excited by the following great favourites - face painting, hair braiding, transfer and henna tattoos, play dough and painting stalls. Hannah, from the Royal Garden Gym, organised some entertaining children’s games and the hotdogs, prepared by the Amari Hotel were a very much appreciated! The other food stalls leapt in to life to feed the starving masses at midday. The pasta options from the Amari together with the St. Andrews Mums’ Tea and Thai Stalls provided the most delicious, top quality food. The refreshments, supplied by Delaney’s, were very popular indeed! ‘Phuluang’, Khun Preeda’s Blue and White Porcelain Stall and other booths selling items provided a great shopping opportunity for everyone! The fair also provided the opportunity for people to view the stunning, recently completed show home on the Green Valley Campus, which has beautiful views across the golf course. Great excitement mounted as the time neared for the drawing of the main raffle prize: a return flight to Sydney courtesy of Qantas British Airways. Although there was only one lucky winner of the flight, many other people were delighted to win the many other prizes that included several dinners for two in Delaney’s and the Amari, custom made blouses and shirts from Classic Tailors, wonderful spa treatments and tennis lessons from the Royal Garden Gym and several one year’s subscriptions to the Pattaya Mail. All the profits of this event will go directly to one little girl in particular. This little girl is called Maria and she is three years old. The medicine needed for her treatment is 15,000 baht per month. St. Andrews International School are delighted to announce that the whole day raised 60,000 Baht towards this medicine. St. Andrews International School would like to thank everybody who supported this event and a special thank you to the sponsors: Ingersoll-Dresser Pumps, Qantas British Airways, Global Silverhawk, The Jesters, Delaney’s, Rayong Green Valley Country Club, Pattaya Mail, Royal Garden Gym, Tesco Lotus Supercentre, Bumrungrad Hospital, St. Andrews Equestrian Centre, R Drinking Water.
