Recently the children from years 3 to 9 of St Andrews
International School, Rayong took part in a team building event. Held in a
beach near Sattahip Naval Base the two-day event was a variety of
initiative and team events designed to test and develop the children’s
team working ability.

the trolleys... 1, 2, 1, 2...
The events involved included “Trolley Walking”
(teams had to work together to get their “trolley” moving forward),
“The Muse” (teams had a time limit to cross a ‘piranha infested’
swamp to save the mythical ‘Pink Boogey Woogey’ bird) and “The Great
Egg Drop” (each team had a time limit to construct a devise out of
limited resources which would allow a raw egg to be dropped from a height
of two metres).
To succeed at the assigned tasks the children had to
use good communication skills, their initiative and work together. All
activities were followed up by discussion sessions and at lunchtime the
children had lunch laid on and the opportunity to swim and play beach
sports.

Organised by the teachers of St. Andrews, the event was
hailed as a great success by all and a lot of fun to be involved in. One
of the children, Ruben De Bruin even said, “It was the best day of my
life”. When asked for her comments, the Head Teacher of St. Andrews,
Jill Thomas said, “Whilst it has been a thoroughly worthwhile event and
the children have learnt a lot about themselves and each other, it was a
really fun day out.”
