Rayong Ladies celebrate Christmas and raise funds for charity
Rayong Ladies Circle Welfare
Committee - diligently working to help those in need.
The Rayong Ladies Circle visited Pattaya for their annual
Christmas Lunch held on December 6 at Casa Pascal Fine Dining Restaurant. The
luncheon was attended by some of the members from the Pattaya International
Ladies Club, uniting in a common goal to raise funds for charity.
Raffle prizes, live music and a merry mood filled the restaurant as the ladies
gathered to enjoy splendid food provided by Pascal Schneider and his team.
Despite the festive atmosphere, the underlying motive was raising funds for the
Rayong Ladies Circle primary charity, the Huey Pong Center.
The Huey Pong Center is a Child Protection Center in the Rayong Province, which
houses 300 children from 7 to 18 years old who either have been victims of abuse
or come from families unable to support them. The center currently has a budget
of 26 baht per day per child and is in desperate need of renovations to upgrade
the living conditions and give them further hope for the future.
The Rayong Ladies Circle is an international, non-profit organization operating
in the Rayong and Pattaya areas with expatriate and Thai members alike. The
organization raises money to support a variety of local projects such as buying
books for local schools, supplying milk for HIV positive mothers at Ban Chang
hospital and supplying essential equipment for Welfare Institutions in the area,
as well as the Camillan Centre and the Eastern Child Welfare Protection
Institute, Maptaphut. Contact Helle Ransten, Welfare Coordinator for the Rayong
Ladies Circle or for more information call 01 63 68 165.
George Harrison tribute at Shenanigans
The Better Band paid tribute to
George Harrison at Shenanigans Pattaya
The Bangkok based Better Band, the now renowned Beatles cover
group, performed at Shenanigans Pub to another packed house.
With the death of George Harrison, the quiet and unassuming Beatle, there were
many requests for some of the famous Harrison numbers such as “Here comes the
sun”, “While my guitar gently weeps” and “The taxman” as well as “Something”
which has been described by Frank Sinatra as “the greatest love song ever
written”.
Ponder on Harrison’s own fitting lyrics,
“A sunrise doesn’t last all morning,
A cloudburst doesn’t last all day
Seems my love is up and left you with no warning,
But its not always been that grey.
And all things must pass,
All things must pass away.”
However, despite the deaths of John Lennon and now George Harrison, the Beatles’
music has not passed away and is still very much alive, and the enthusiastic
crowd showed that spirit with some lively dancing being done by Pattaya notables
Kannikar Ottesen and Pat Burbridge.
