Mio celebrates again
Mio Aamlid (seated 2nd left) always has a reason to celebrate, but this
time it wasn’t winning another bowling tournament, rather by achieving
another milestone in her life, namely her birthday. Inviting friends and
teammates from the PSC bowling league, the team rolled down the lane to
Bruno’s Restaurant to have a party. After having picked up spares all
evening the revelers finally bowled a strike, when they were joined by Mayor
Pairat Suthithamrongsawat (next to Jan Olav). From then on it was just a
perfect game.
BCCT provides a unique opportunity to hear a remarkable speaker
The British Chamber of Commerce Thailand has been very
fortunate to secure Senator Mechai Viravaidya as guest speaker at a Special
Eastern Seaboard Dinner to be held at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort on Friday
27th September at 6.30 pm.
Senator Mechai is one of the best known public figures in Thailand. His
popular title, “The Condom King” does not do him justice, as he has been at
the forefront of Thai welfare for many decades. He is the founder and
chairman of the Population and Community Development Association (PDA), one
of Thailand’s largest private, non-profit development organizations. Since
1974, the PDA has initiated community-based family planning services,
community and rural development programmes, and HIV/AIDS prevention
activities. The success of its programmes resulted in the average number of
children per family falling from seven to two.
An admired administrator, he has served in many governmental positions
including assisting former Prime Minister Anand Panyarachun in establishing
a comprehensive national HIV/AIDS prevention policy and programme.
Senator Mechai has an important message for all BCCT members, but non-BCCT
members are welcome. The cost of this dinner is only THB 800 per person.
Reservations with payment to the BCCT office are required no later than
Thursday 26th September, but for those attending from the Eastern Seaboard
payment can be made at the door but advance booking is necessary.
The Pattaya Gay Festival 2002 breaks the one and a half million baht mark
The PGF 2002 has now raised over 1.6 million baht for its
charities this year. The last three events put the PGF over the one and a
half million baht mark.
There was a very successful wine and cheese night at Le Cafe Royale hosted
by Ian and Robby which raised about 50,000 baht.
Following this, Terry and David of My Life Bar, who won quite a few raffle
prizes at the wine and cheese night, held a birthday party for Terry at My
Life and capped the evening by auctioning off the prizes that they had won
in addition to more donated prizes, raising 24,000 baht for the PGF
charities.
These two events were topped off by the Mr. PGF contest held at the Icon
Show Bar, which raised a fantastic 223,000 baht for the PGF charities.
An up to date schedule of all Pattaya Gay Festival Events and a link to make
donations to the PGF charities can be found on the PGF web site at:
