The induction began with district governor of Lions International District 310C, Somsak Lohwisoot’s message to the newcomers that they must commit themselves for the benefit of the community under the Lions’ motto “We Serve”.

Following the induction ceremonies a press conference was held to welcome the members and announce the preparations of the club’s first major fundraising event, ‘Golf Pa Pluen’. This Grand Golf charity tournament will be held at the Diana Driving Range on October 26 from 4 p.m. onwards. Prizes include gift vouchers for health checkups, workouts, beauty treatment, restaurant meals, diving, and fishing.

Fun golf, grand buffet and prize draw tickets are 500 baht for a book of five. A nominal charge for diners only will be 150 baht. Children less than 120 centimeters tall will be allowed entry free of charge.

Tickets are available at the following locations: S.C.R Homefinder, telephone 038-420-960; 2nd Hand Center, telephone 038-426-859; Premier Homes, telephone 038-2319231 or contact any of the International Lions Club Jomtien Pattaya Club members. (L to R) Richard Lane, Graham Smith and Felicity Smith let out a Lion’s roar after their induction into the Lions Club of Jomtien-Pattaya.

Proceeds from this event will aid a local health clinic, Nong Phang Kae, Jomtien. This is a medical facility that delivers primary care to some 9,000 residents, treating on average 600 patients per month. Patients are in the low income category and can not therefore afford treatment at hospitals of international standard. The clinic’s objective is to upgrade the facility and improve the building.

Following the conference Malcolm Scorer of Temple Bar International, Private Client Banking Division, officially handed over a donation of 100,000 baht to Paul Davies, who received it on behalf of the Lions Club of Pattaya Jomtien to be used in promotion of the upcoming event.
