Bruno turns Six!
by Miss Terry Diner
Well, to be truthful, it was not Bruno Forrer who turned
six, but the restaurant opened by him and the late Louis Fassbind that
celebrated its 6th anniversary last weekend.
A little of the restaurant’s history was given by the Pattaya
Mail’s publisher Peter Malhotra, who outlined the events in those six
years, which included the addition of chef and partner Fredi Schaub. He gave
credit to Bruno and Fredi (and Mr Pattaya, the departed and most beloved
Louis Fassbind) for having given Pattaya a world class fine dining
restaurant, which had in turn raised the public perception of Pattaya as a
world class tourist destination.
Mio and
Jan Olav Aamlid (L) presented a rare Celadon dish to Bruno Forrer and Fredi
Schaub (standing) on the occasion of the restaurant’s sixth anniversary.
To mark the occasion, Fredi prepared a special gourmet
dinner for the assembled Pattaya "foodies" that included such
mouth-watering items as a horseradish cream soup with pan-fried salmon,
making a very interesting combination, and a main course of Australian beef
tenderloin in a piquant balsamic sauce served on gratin potatoes accompanied
by a ragout of white and green asparagus.
The guests that evening were a "who’s who" of
Pattaya, across all sections of society, but all linked with a common
interest in fine food and united by a desire to pay their thanks and
respects to Bruno and Fredi for their contribution to the culinary scene in
Pattaya.
