Pattaya Expats Club – expats helping expats. Sunday brunch meeting at the Amari Orchid Resort near the Dolphin Roundabout from 10.30 a.m. in the Orchid Room. Deutsche Haus on Beach Road is now selling fried ostrich steaks and filets flambé with asparagus and baked potato for only 280 baht. Enjoy the nice view, overlooking the beach and watching people strolling along the promenade.

Mediterranean Marvels! There is an assortment of marvelous Mediterranean classics awaiting diners to La Mer Restaurant, Montien Hotel Pattaya. Hans and his team at the Paradise Café and Grill will return from their holiday break on September 27th. A culinary trip around the world will be the new food promotion, featuring tender braised lamb shank (from Australia), Moroccan couscous from North Africa, Otshorn ostrich fillet from South Africa, chicken Maryland from America, tuna with wasabi & soya from Japan and coq au vin from France. For those who look for something different, try one of the many ostrich dishes, a dining experience you won’t regret. For the hungry, Shenanigans Pattaya now has free chili-con-carne with every drink on Mondays between noon and 2 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday’s is the 100 baht specials. Steak Night (a big bowl of homemade soup, 400 gram t-bone steak a mass of chips and salad - all for 195 baht) is now on Wednesdays. Pasta Night for 195 baht "As much as you can eat" on Thursdays and don’t miss the Carvery on Saturday & Sunday. Shenanigans is located on Pattaya Second Road in front of the Marriott Resort and Royal Garden Plaza.

Tequila Reef on Soi 7 is celebrating the return of the NFL with game replays every Monday night through the season, and it’s a ‘Tailgate Party’ from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Tuesday. Chicken wings, chilidogs and tacos only 25 baht, plus 2 for 1 frozen margaritas. Only at Tequila Reef Mexican Grill Cantina, Soi 7, 30 meters off the beach (free parking available).

Events

The Pattaya International Ladies Club will hold their Annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, October 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort’s Grand Hotel. This year, PILC has 50 wonderful prizes for the holiday raffle! So get in early, as there are plenty of bargains to be had and a chance to get in some early Christmas Shopping.

On Sunday 13th October, Shenanigans Pattaya will be having its first fishing trip. This family day out has the following itinerary: All meet at Shenanigans before 10 a.m., take a bus to the pier, and upon boarding a luxury cruise boat, set sail out to sea. On board will be plenty of scuba diving equipment, fishing tackle, a light finger buffet which will run all day, and unlimited beer, soft drinks, red and white wine. At lunchtime the boat will pull into an island for a barbeque lunch, and in the afternoon take a leisurely cruise back to the pier, arriving back at aprox. 6 p.m. The cost per person is 1500 baht inclusive (no further hidden charges) with all children accompanied by adults free. Fishing and swimming not compulsory, having fun is.

The next Pattaya Gay Festival event will be a Charity Dinner at the August Renoir Restaurant, in the Flamingo Hotel. The dinner will be on Wednesday October 9th at 8:30 pm. Tickets at 800 baht (with 300 baht going to the PGF Charities) are available at the Flamingo Hotel and the Ambiance.

Entertainment

The Prince of Wales, Soi Khao Noi (Formosa) is really up and running. Pool, darts, cribbage, movies, sports and a better menu. Cookie still offers free pub grub every Friday night and a now a ‘beer and brunch fest’ @ 149 baht from 10 a.m. Sundays. Nice staff, nice atmosphere and always fun. Pay them a visit, you’ll enjoy it.

On your mark ... Get Set ... dance! Get Set is the new band playing nightly (except Mondays) at the Moon River Pub & Restaurant in the Thai Garden Resort, North Pattaya. Two stunning female singers from Malaysia, a rhythm section from Trinidad, and two excellent Filipino musicians form this 6 piece action show band. And don’t forget to order your draft beer pipe, when you can be your own bartender for the night.

The next Tibhar Table Tennis tournament will be held will be held at Mike’s Shopping Mall (5th floor) on Saturday and Sunday October 12 and 13.
