Hey, did you find out what a 20 sided polygon is called? It’s called an icosahedron! Try saying that five times really fast.

Here’s an interesting puzzle for you to try and work out. Arrange 10 coins as shown below.

Now try to do this!

1) Make you coins form a rectangle shape by moving them only one space at a time. You can move them up, down, forwards, backwards or diagonally. Can you do it in two moves, only moving two coins?

2) How many moves does it take to change them from the original pattern into a triangle with four coins on each side?

If you have a solution write to Marvin and let him know. You can send your letters to:

Regent’s holds Isan charity sale

The Isan Christmas Collection was the focal point of a recent charity sale held on campus at The Regent’s School. Staff and visitors took the opportunity to stock up on gifts for Christmas from the wonderful array of products on display, including hand woven materials, clothing, tableware and decorations.

(l to r) Volunteers Barbara (who kindly loaned her house), Brunhilde and Martine.

All the items are produced under the auspices of the charities of the Good Shepherd Sisters in Nongkhai, Northern Thailand, and 100% of the profits from sales such as this go directly to the charity.

A hardworking group of volunteers arrange regular sales for the Sisters.

Halloween fun at the Regent’s

This group of Year 9’s had a great time at the recent Halloween Disco at The Regent’s School. Nearly 100 secondary students attended the disco which was organised by the Student Guild. Everyone looked appropriately spooky and scary and Siri Casper won the prize for best fancy dress - she looked just like Morticia from the Addams Family! Congratulations go to the Guild for organising such a terrific night out!
