Dr. Martin Reisinger, the managing director of Thai
Aerosil, a renowned scientist who started in the chemical catalysts
department of Degussa AG in Germany, gave a presentation about Thai Aerosil,
its new plant and explained the function of their product.
Being a 100% subsidiary of Degussa AG in Germany, the
plant will produce aerosil, a fumed silica. Its operation in the new Asia
Industrial Estate, Thailand, will start early next year.
Dr.
Martin Reisinger explains the plant model to his future staff while on site
visitation.
Aerosil, a fluffy white powder of high purity, is used in
many versatile applications which range from silicon rubber, silicone
sealants and adhesives in the electronics industry, to cosmetics and
pharmaceuticals. Already 60 years old, there are still new applications to
come.
Beginning with 27 employees, of which 24 are Thai, the
staff has been going through various training programs before the actual
operation.
The Thai-German-Institute (TGI) plays an active role in
providing technical and soft skill trainings. The technical skills included
are Chemistry, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Drives, PLC S7, Profibus, Fine
Tuning, and Digital Electronics.
On the soft skill side, the staff was given intensive
courses in English communication and inter-cultural management.
Out of 21 staff being trained at TGI, 12 have left for on
the job training in another Aerosil plant of their mother company in
Leverkusen, Germany. The others are carrying on their technical training,
and will soon take up TGI’s “self motivation training in customer
orientation and communication”.
Dr. Reisinger also introduced the new Degussa, becoming
the world market leader in specialty chemicals. Although products are not
delivered to the end-customer, Degussa products can be found in everyone’s
daily life, which is best expressed by the vision, “Everybody benefits
from a Degussa product - every day and everywhere”.
