Clubs

Pattaya City Expats Club meets on Sunday mornings at Henry J Beans Restaurant and Pub at the Amari Orchid Resort at the north end of Beach Road from 9:30-10:30 a.m. for buffet breakfast, and from 10:30-12:30 for entertaining speakers and open forum. Everyone welcome.

Tango with Mango, new steps to enjoy the yellow fruit - The sunny season isn’t complete without mango, the delicious golden tropical fruit. The executive chef at the Dusit Resort Pattaya Hotel, Peter Held, with his joyous ideas, prepares a parade of mango menus for you. Some of the highlights are Mango jelly on fresh hydroponic greens and seared peppered tuna fillet; chilled mango soup with young ginger and mint; poached snow fish fillet on mango tarragon sauce; roasted pork tender loin with mango salsa and rocket lettuce; saut้ed sliced veal in mango sauce with bulgur fritters and sugar peas, and much more. Don’t miss tasting every rhythm of mango, day and night at Cascade Café during the whole month of March.

Pizza and Pasta Festival every Friday in the Tropical Garden, Amari Orchid Resort from 7 p.m. for 330 baht ++ per person. Join in an Italian evening in the lush tropical gardens as Amari’s chef creates a wonderful buffet with home style cooking. Enjoy the antipasto or create your own pasta dish. A full dessert buffet is also available and the house band will entertain all night long. Also, don’t miss Ladies Night every Monday. Ladies buy one drink and get one for free at the Henry J. Bean’s Bar and Grill, Beach Road in North Pattaya.

Asparagus is in season, and Hans Banziger and his team at the Paradise Restaurant offer a dozen of delicious white and green asparagus specials, featuring asparagus hollandaise, asparagus with smoked salmon, asparagus with black forest ham, asparagus with lobster, asparagus with lamb fillet, asparagus with fillet of sole and chardonnay sauce, plus many more! Don’t miss it; all dishes are reasonably priced as always at the Paradise Restaurant. And for those who look for some thing different, the Paradise Restaurant is Pattaya’s first and only restaurant specializing in exotic food, including ostrich, kangaroo, emu, crocodile and deer, a dining experience you won’t regret or forget. Shenanigans the Irish Pub has increased its Monday Specials to start at 12 midday on both Monday and Tuesday. Monday there is a three-course menu, with two choices for each course for 199 baht. Tuesdays is a full Shenanigans meal for 100 baht, check Shenanigans boards for menus. Shenanigans Pattaya is located on Second Road, in front of the Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa.

Mad March! And what a month for sport! This weekend sees a full card of Six Nations Rugby and the Australian Grand Prix, then over the coming weekends we have some terrific Premiership Football with Man. Utd v Man. City, Portsmouth v Southampton and Arsenal v Man. Utd. Stay up late at the end of the month to see those age-old antagonists England and France battle it out at the finale of a great Six Nations Rugby tournament. Watch it all in Jomtien’s premier sports bar the ‘Old Speckled Hen” on Soi 9. Exhibitions

Art Cafe is now featuring an art exhibition titled ‘Silent Storms’ with the works of another young artist originating from Bangkok but living and working in Pattaya. Chaiwichit ‘Joe’ Sappaso who has studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Khon Khaen University and in 2001 won the Lefranc Painting Contest. Even though he studied with oil, pastels, sketching, photography, watercolors and acrylic, he has chosen watercolors as he finds them fresh and detailed as can be seen in his work.
