Will the ‘real’ Elvis please stand up?

The British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT) chose the Jomtien Boathouse as the venue for their latest Eastern Seaboard Networking evening. With hosts Kannikar and Ib Ottesen supplying a Danish smorgasbord which included Norwegian salmon and Japanese Sashimi, it was certainly an international gathering.

The varied enterprises located on the Eastern Seaboard could be seen from the Chamber members and guests who were present. (Are female members called ‘Chamber Maids’ I wonder?) Scot Iain Arthur from the Alkemy Restaurant was seen chatting to American automaker George Strampp, while they were both flexing their mussels at the seafood end of the buffet. The lovely young ladies from the Horseshoe Point, led by Jasmine Zebic, were in much demand, although there was no horsing around during the evening, while the ‘cool’ end of the bar saw it being propped up by Kevin Fisher, the jolly green giant, who does something with a company called Global Zyme to stabilize soils. Kevin just standing on it, will certainly compact several strata of topsoil!

The Royal Cliff Beach Resort sent in their ‘heavies’ with Alexander Hauesler, Ranjith Chandrasiri and David Holden all holding the floor at various stages of the evening. Ian Dickson and wife Pat were there, with Ian trying valiantly to explain why his company was now called BlueScope Steel instead of being part of the Bloody Huge Profits group they were in before.

Phil Alexander from the Sikhara luxury development was there to tell everyone about his new housing complex in Jomtien (the smarter end of Pattaya), with homes readily available from one easy deposit of 100 percent of 12 million.

The evening was part sponsored by the Pattaya Mail, with all the troops out in force, led by Captain Peter; and by Emerson Climate Technologies with Bruce and Judy Hoppe hoping the climate didn’t get any hotter!

The event was captured by the Pattaya Mail Plus TV, including the ‘performance’ of both Elvises on stage together. For the benefit of those who were unsure, the ‘copy’ Elvis was the one who didn’t know the words!

It was another great British Chamber of Commerce Networking Night, run by Graham Macdonald, who in addition to his Eastern Seaboard duties with the BCCT and being a director of MBMG International, is now also a regular columnist with the Pattaya Mail.
