Korean singing star Bada makes hit music video in Pattaya
Suchada Tupchai
Pop Korean solo artist Bada made a music video at the Royal
Cliff Beach Resort and on Larn Island earlier this month. She said she chose
those locations because of their beautiful scenery and the seamless cooperation
that has been extended to the lovely songstress and her team.

Blue Sky Multilateral Entertainment, led by Sang Chul Ko,
made the video November 14-17.
Bada told a gathering of reporters and local fans, “I have
already been to Thailand three times. I was so impressed with Thai culture and
the sincere friendliness of the Thai people that I understand why tourists come
back here over and over again. During my trips here I saw so many beautiful
places in the kingdom that would make fabulous locations for a music video. I
chose the Royal Cliff and Larn Island for their fantastic settings and their
abundance of Thai culture which will be featured in the video.”
While registration arrangements were being made for the music
video Bada also promoted her new album “Bada Vol. 2 - Aurora” to support
tourism between Thailand and Korea.
The lovely Bada added that she feels so great about Thailand
that she would like to sing a Thai song and hold a concert in Thailand. “Most
importantly I have found such warmth and friendship with the Thai people.”
Bada then sang a song solo, without her band, and posed for
photographers. Bada’s charm and outgoing personality made the event fun and
her heartfelt bond with the Thai people was felt by everyone who attended.
Bada (whose real name is Choi Sung-Hee), was born on February 28, 1980 in
Buchon, Korea. She has a Theater & Film Degree from Dunkuk University. She
started out by singing with the well-known Korean band, S.E.S. (which stands for
Sea (Bada), Eugene and Shoo), 3 female singers who have had great success in
Korea, especially in the teenage girls’ marker. They have had 4 successful
albums from 1997-1999. Bada is a lead singer who is very talented, and attracts
the public with her beautiful voice and lovely face. Right now she is a pop solo
artist in Korea, and is a favorite with many age groups.
Farewell Phil
Pattaya’s rugby community recently lost an avid player and supporter
in guise of Phil Dunn. Phil, a Pattaya resident for 5 years, has been
transferred to Kazakhstan with Foster Wheeler.
Phil received a
bouquet of flowers and well wishes from the Shenanigans Pattaya staff.
The Pattaya Panthers, Panties and workmates piled into
Shenanigans to join ‘twenty drinks’ Phil, as he is affectionately
known, for an evening of libation and merry making, complete with a spot of
singing with Pop’s Allstars.
Saying he received an offer too good to resist, Phil
added that it was time for a change and to move on.
“I’ll be back,” said Phil, who by the time he
reads this will have settled into the less than sunny climate.
The amber liquid filled evening, courtesy of Tiger Beer and
Shenanigans’ landlord Kim Fletcher, saw well wishers, including the girls
from Shenanigans, present gifts and drinks. There would, however, be one
more rugby game in Bangkok before Phil flew out to his new Kazak home. What
a way to go!

Local bikers ready for trip to Chiang Mai Bike Week
More correctly, this should be named the Chiang Mai Bike Weekend, since
that is the true duration of an event that draws thousands of bikers from
not only Thailand but most of South East Asia.
This year the event will be held on Friday and Saturday
December 10 and 11. Most visitors gather at least the day before and leave
on the Sunday, after recovering from one almighty party.
Local bikers will “probably leave Chonburi on Monday or
Tuesday, December 6 or 7, maybe staying the first night somewhere around the
Petchabun, Phitsanulok or Kamphaeng Phet area, then touring up to the
Burmese border and staying one night in Mae Sot, one night in Mae Hong Son
and maybe spending a day messing around in the hill tribe village areas
before arriving in Chiang Mai on the Friday,” says Martin, one of the
local organizers.
“After the event, we’d like to go on up and spend a
day or so around Doi Mae Salong, Mae Sai, Chiang Saen (Golden Triangle)
before heading south. For the return there are many possibilities... We may
well be heading over to see friends in Si Sa Ket, which could mean taking in
Loei, Udon Thani, Sakhon Nakhon and then down the Eastern border,” he
says.

Nong Nooch elephants prepare for National Fathers’ Day celebrations on December 5
Boonlua Chatree
In preparation for HM the King’s birthday celebrations
on December 5, also regarded as National Father’s Day, last Saturday at
Nong Nooch Gardens 13 elephants prepared for their role in the parade.
Elephants
never forget, but they do need some practice...
The 13 elephants were chosen because they have one thing
in common, they are the offspring of 25-year-old bull elephant Plai Bird.
Plai Bird has been recorded as the male elephant with the most offspring in
Thailand and each of his ‘children’ - aged between 3 months to 9 years -
will present gifts to symbolize Fathers Day.
A further 20 elephants will parade in the grounds,
carrying folded doves, the symbol of peace, to give encouragement to those
in the south of Thailand. Ceremonies will also include prayers for peace in
the 3 southern provinces hit by separatist violence.
The ceremonial show will take place at Nong Nooch Gardens this Sunday,
December 5.
Funds raised at the Rotary Cross Bay Charity Swim benefit children at Ban Jing Jai
Last month, eight doughty swimmers braved choppy waters to complete an
exhausting 4-kilometer Rotary Cross Bay Charity Swim from South Pattaya pier
to the Dusit shoreline. This thrilling exercise was organized by the Rotary
Club of Jomtien-Pattaya to raise funds to support the 52 children at the Ban
Jing Jai Orphanage.
A little one is busy trying out his new pencil and books.
The event proved to be most successful and a fair amount
of money was raised, thanks to the help from members of the community and
their most generous donations.
On November 24, Rotarians and benefactors went to the
orphanage to hand over the first consignment of food and supplies to the
children.
Simon
Simms and Thor Halland present the provisions to Khun Phiangta Chumnoi,
project director, who accepted them on behalf of the children.
President Elect Chris Gibbins, Simon Simms and Thor Halland, the
organizer of the event who led the delegation for the presentation had this
to say, “There are 52 children in the home and their ages range between 2
and 13 years. The kids made us very welcome, giving us a warm feeling in the
heart to know that we could help these children. We have some purchasing
power so we try to get the best possible deal for the orphanage. We
Rotarians pledge that we will supply the provisions as and when required to
the home.”
