Leading the team was Rotchana Dangroj, chairman of Marriott’s Spirit to Serve project, and 94 excited children joined in the lunchtime fun and games. Helping to serve lunch was Wattana Chantkul, Mabprachan School director.

Rotchana said the lunches are held every month with the hotel bringing together all its employees celebrating their birthdays during the month to join in the activities with the Mabprachan School children. Spirit to Serve is also currently collecting money to build the Ban Mabprachan teachers’ lodging, having recently finished constructing a new wall for the school and funding repairs to the building.

Before starting lunch the project organizers and children enjoyed games and there was a special comedy show put on by the Rotarians.

Finding a four-legged friend with a good pedigree

Man’s best friend can also provide you with a good business if you love what you are doing, and Chatchai and Anusara Ruangnam have grown their dog breeding business from simply owning a Shih Tzu pedigree pup five years ago to currently having over 50 dogs for breeding and distribution.

At Chatchai Farm in Huay Yai, along with Shih Tzus there are Golden Retrievers, Siberian Huskies, Cocker Spaniels, and many other breeds.

Both Chatchai and Anusara were formerly employees in a private company but they both had a deep interest in pedigree dogs and set up the breeding farm nearly five years ago. A sister in Chiang Mai had given them a Shih Tzu puppy, and they were afraid that the little dog would feel lonely, so they looked for another two. The person who supplied those then gave them two more. When the pups grew up they bred and Chatchai and Anusara found they could sell them for a very good price. After that, they decided to invest everything in the pedigree breeding business.

A Shih Tzu is a lovely and devoted dog. Chatchai Farm provides all the information needed for taking care of the dog, whichever breed you choose, such as how often to bathe it and cut its hair and claws, and what kind of food it likes.
