The Jesters Children’s Fair & Family Day is coming soon

Mike Franklin
In three weeks, on Sunday 10th September, it will be the 2006 Jesters Children’s Fair and Family Day at the Diana Garden Resort & Driving Range, North Pattaya. A guaranteed day of fun and games, and this year the children’s fair will be bigger and better than ever. Action packed entertainment with many new and exciting events for the whole family.

Pooh is hanging out with some of the great prizes for this year’s fair.
For the past seven years the Children’s fairs have been a huge success, and this will be the fifth consecutive year that the Diana Group has generously hosted the fair by making available the entire Diana Driving Range facility to stage the event.
The activities for the many fair-goers we expect to see on the day include plenty of new and exciting games and lots of prizes for the kids. Many challenging kids’ games will be introduced this year and numerous schools will participate by providing children’s entertainment, including arts and crafts and face painting. More about that in a couple of weeks when Karyn Walker will be giving a detailed run down on the Children’s activities.

A lovely giant Pooh Bear, shown here with the ‘Double A’ Logistics team who sponsored it, is searching for a large honey pot and a new home to go to and will take center stage in the Children’s raffle.

In addition, there will be live bands, famous entertainers, and clowns distributing brightly colored balloons. The 2006 Jesters ‘Care for Kids’ T shirt is soon to be on sale, for many to add to their existing collection. The ever-popular climbing wall will be there, rides with the lovely Horseshoe Point ponies, a Taekwondo martial arts demonstration and a superb range of your favorite Thai, Eastern and Western foods. New this year is Candy Floss for the kids with 10 different flavours to choose from.
The Fair will feature unique handicraft vendors from throughout Southeast Asia displaying and selling their wares. Bangkok Pattaya Hospital Ambulance unit will be on station all day to take care of any mishaps, and the Duty Nurse will be available for free blood pressure checks.
The famous Children’s Raffle has lots of great prizes sponsored by Pattaya Sports Club and generous individuals. Prizes this year include Color TVs and DVD players, Mountain bike, i-audio DVD speaker system, Sony MP3 Flash Memory Walkman, Canon color printer/copier/scanner, R/C Helicopter, Wireless high band microphone system, Dome 3.5 tent, Casio keyboard, an Index ‘full face’ crash helmet, a Yamaha acoustic guitar, toys from Brown Farm and more.

After the Children’s Raffle Draw at 3.30 p.m. comes the action-packed showstopper: the special Kids Tug ‘O’ War, and more live music. So, lots of reasons for the Children and the Family to be there for the day.
All Children’s Fair proceeds go to the 2006 Jesters ‘Care for Kids’ Charity Drive beneficiaries, helping under-privileged children in the area, many of whom will be there from the Fountain of Life and Ban Jing Jai to enjoy the Fair with us.
This year, due to the rolling success of the eight previous Jesters ‘Care for Kids’ Charity Drives, we have more beneficiaries to add to our established list that includes the Fountain of Life Center, Pattaya Redemptorist School for the Blind, the Eastern Child Welfare and Protection Institute at Huay Pong, Happiness Camps, the ‘Next Step’ Program with Khun Em in his second year at university, Khao Bai Sri School in Sattahip, Rayong Training Center and Thap Lamu and Sanga Ou Schools in the South of Thailand. We have added the Ban Jing Jai Orphanage (a major project completed this year), the Sriphong Phukaoluan Foundation, through which we are providing a 5 year scholarship for an orphaned 9-year-old boy named Eckalot in a joint venture with Unilever, plus 2 more school lunch programs at Wat Samithhitham and Koh Phi Phi.
Show your support for the Jesters Children’s Fair & Family Day by displaying the bumper sticker shown on this page. Bumper stickers and the color posters featured in Pattaya Mail are available at the Pattaya Mail office, Jameson’s, TQ Beach Road, Viking Beachcomber, Brown Farm, the Diana Inn and the Diana Garden Resort & Driving Range. By displaying these items you will be contributing towards the success of the Jesters Children’s Fair on Sunday September 10th at the Diana Garden Resort & Driving Range - a big event, a great day out and a fun day for all the Family to enjoy. Don’t miss the biggest, and best yet, Jesters ‘Care for Kids’ Children’s Fair.
Be there, and don’t forget to say hello to the big guy, Jester Kevin, he is the one who puts the Fair together on the day for us all to enjoy. Come and see me, with Bernie Tuppin and our team, at the Children’s Raffle stall.
There will be around 80 stalls at the fair and a few are still available, but going fast. Details and a booking form are on the web site at [email protected] plus all the other information about this year’s Jesters Charity Drive.
Make a note too, of the Jesters Pub Night at Jameson’s on Saturday 16th September, when marathon cyclists Erik & Robert will arrive back after their 417 Km sponsored ride from Hat Lek at the Cambodian border. Fabulous items of memorabilia from many famous sports personalities will be auctioned and the Grand raffle drawn.
But first, comes the Jesters Children’s Fair & Family Day on Sunday 10th September. See you there.

Clowns distributing brightly colored balloons are always kept busy during the fun.

Asian University sails at Hua Hin Regatta

The weekend of sailing at the Hua-Hin Regatta brought home some mixed results despite the wet and very windy conditions. Asian U’s sailors were proud to successfully complete the races, as many of the other competitors failed to do so due to the extreme weather conditions.

Piak (left) and Mink gave a good effort in the competition.
Sinsupa Wannasuth or Mink (a second year BBA student) was holding an excellent third place run in to the finish line in her second race, which included sixty other boats, when the weather got the better of her and she capsized losing her advantage. It must be noted that of the sixty-one boats taking part in this particular race, only eleven managed to finish because of the inclement weather, so well done to Mink and commiserations on your stroke of bad luck.
In other news from the sailing, Piak (sports instructor) managed to finish in the top 50% of the competitors which was a marvellous result as he has only been sailing twice before, and the other teams were ‘Old Salts’ from Thailand and other South East Asian countries, with many such competitions under their belts. A great effort from Piak and a truly great effort from all the competitors. Asian U looks forward to taking part in, and maybe winning, future events.

Mink sets sail in what turned out to be extreme weather conditions.

Mink has recently returned from two weeks in Olympia, Greece, where she attended the International Olympic Academy for young participants. She represented Thailand at the seminar, which was to prepare the youngsters for the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.

Asian U’s sailing team members were proud to successfully compete in the races.
