Bids farewell to retiring Soonthorn Suree and welcomes Jeyhun Efendi
Emirates Airline has announced a transition in executive
management in Thailand. Soonthorn Suree is retiring as Area Manager for
Thailand and Indochina, handing over the baton to Jeyhun Efendi, who will
now head Emirates’ operations in Thailand with effect from Oct 1st.
Jeyhun
Efendi - Emirates’ new Area Manager for Thailand.
Soonthorn Suree’s retirement comes 16 years after managing Emirates, ever
since the airline’s offices were established in Bangkok in 1990. During
those years he has played a key role in establishing and building a strong
presence, and forging a reputation as an airline of choice that delivers the
finest services to its passengers. He has overseen Emirates’ growth from 2
services to 36 return flights into Bangkok.
His replacement, Jeyhun Efendi brings to Thailand extensive experience in
the aviation industry, after he began his career with Emirates’ sales team
in Baku, Azerbaijan in 1997. Since then he has held several positions in the
airline’s commercial division, including his previous position as Emirates’
Area Manager for Russia and the CIS, when he was instrumental in
consolidating Emirates’ position in the region.
Commenting on his new position Jeyhun Efendi said: “It is an honour and
pleasure to work for one of the word’s fastest growing international
airlines and to head the Thai team here. I have been overwhelmed by the very
warm and friendly welcome from staff, trade partners and the community.”
He added: “I intend to provide continuity in the role the Soonthorn has
filled so energetically and with such passion these past 16 years. I also
look forward to enhancing our product offering and Emirates’ image in
Thailand and creating a strong bond with our travel partners and
passengers.”
Japanese electronics group to invest Bt120 million
in Thailand
Japan’s electronics giant Kuroda Group has inaugurated a
Bt.120 million factory to finish hard-disk drives in Thailand.
Speaking at the inauguration of a new Kuroda Sinsei (Thailand) factory,
Board of Investment secretary-general Satit Chanjavanakul described the
Kuroda Group as a reputable Japanese electronics conglomerate with plans to
further invest in the Kingdom, which he said was an indication of the firm’s
confidence in Thailand’s long-term potential.
The Kuroda Group has been investing in Thailand for over a decade already
through a local subsidiary and to date, it has 15 projects granted (BoI)
privileges. More investments in the pipeline include manufacturing hard-disk
drives and parts to supply the electronics industries, Mr.Satit said.
Hard-disk drives have been the subject of the company’s recent focus.
“The fact that Japanese investors have shown confidence in Thailand reflects
that political changes have no impact on investment decisions, particularly
among long-time investors familiar with Thailand,” Mr. Satit said.
Kuroda Sinsei (Thailand) managing direct Kazunari Fuwa said his head office
has confidence in Thailand’s economic potential, and the quality of
Thailand’s human resources and infrastructure as well as the privileges
granted to it by the Board of Investment.
He said in the future, the company is looking to expand its operations to
cater to the comprehensive demand of the hard-disk drive industries, as well
as the electronics and automotive industries.
The newly inaugurated hard-disk drive finishing plant has the capacity of
1,500 tonnes per year and its major clients in Thailand include brands such
as Hitachi and Fujitsu. (TNA)
