Christmas in Pattaya - there’s no better place to be
Pattaya once again proved to be “the place to be” for
Christmas, as, despite this being a mostly Buddhist country, there was
plenty of Christmas spirit and many traditional celebrations to choose
from.
There were many Santa sightings around town, plenty of presents for the
children, delicious Christmas buffets in all major venues, caroling,
concerts, contests and even snow at the TQs. And despite this being
December, there were still warm, friendly beaches on which to sit back
and just relax.
Santa Claus and Santarina welcomed guests to the
Hard Rock Hotel.
Santa Claus gave out lots of presents to
children at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.
Santa Claus and his bag of toys were sighted at
the Thai Garden Resort.
The Amari Orchid Pattaya had a wonderful party
for their Thai and foreign guests during Christmas.
Little boys and girls participated in a little
Santa - Santarina pageant at Mike’s Shopping Mall.
Management and employees of Casa Pascal
Restaurant prepared luxury menus for their customers.
The Montien’s Santa Claus and helpers sang
carols for their Thai and foreign guests.
More than 40 orphans from Ban Jing Jai sang
carols at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, wishing patients a Merry Christmas.
It was a family atmosphere at Captain’s Corner,
where employees donned red to welcome guests at Christmas.
Jomtien Beach was full of relaxing tourists.

The Rotary Club of Taksin Pattaya held a Christmas party on the roof
deck of the Mark-Land Hotel, with members of other Rotary Clubs and
charity associations among the guests.
Miss Rotary Family Pattaya 2006 Premrudee Jittiwuttikarn is
flanked by Toy Ryser and Sropai Sarx.
Former president Stephan Heynert arranged everything perfectly with John
Botting, future president, leading the evening that featured a delicious
buffet.
Gorgeous dancers provided entertainment while guests enjoyed the food
and a talented solo entertainer played the keyboard and gently sang
evergreens.
The main event was the election of the first Miss Rotary Family Pattaya.
Several ladies and wives - “Rotary Anns” - participated. The ladies, all
of who were dressed to kill, had to introduce themselves one after
another in English and describe what they felt Rotary stood for and what
role they played to help the Rotary cause.
Five jurors narrowed the contestants down to three finalists before a
break was called for drawing the raffle prizes donated by local
businesses.
As the final round commenced the tree finalists were asked, what they
would do with the prize money if they were crowned the winner. Toy Ryser
said that she would give half of it to her little niece and buy herself
a nice dress with the other half.
The judges’ verdict was soon announced with Sropai, the stunning wife of
Dietrich Sarx capturing third place. Toy Ryser came in second. She is
the wife of Stephan Ryser the president elect of the Rotary Club Eastern
Seaboard.
As drums rolled and trumpets blared, Premrudee “Toy” Jittiwuttikarn, was
crowned Miss Rotary Family 2006.
Premruedee, one of the most popular ladies in Pattaya society, is the
owner of King’s Seafood restaurant, a former president of the YWCA and
Lions Club of Pratamnak and is currently an active member of the Walking
Street committee.
Premrudee donated all her winnings to the Rotary Clubs of Taksin Pattaya
and Laem Chabang and to the YWCA.
Khun Toy said that she was very happy to be chosen as Miss Rotary
Family, adding that she would continue to do everything she could to
support Rotary Clubs in their objectives to help the poor and the sick.
At the end of the evening, fireworks lit up the night sky, though being
part of another celebration at a nearby function was a considered a most
appropriate ending to a meaningful evening of fun, beauty, fellowship,
and most important of all a worthwhile fundraiser for charity.
Contestants line up for the judges to get a good look, not only at
their beauty but also to look into their hearts.
Friends meet to enjoy good fellowship.
