the Chon Kalayanukul School in Chonburi on March 5, when outstanding
persons in the area were recognised for their services to society.
Mass Media Day of Thailand is celebrated throughout the country on March
5 every year, when members of all branches of the media gather together
to enjoy an evening of fellowship and rededication to their profession.
As they do every year, the Eastern Mass Media Association of Thailand,
led by President Padungsak Tantaraworasil, arranged their annual
function on that day. Chonburi Deputy Governor Rerngsak
Mahavinitchaimontri and dignitaries from various government departments
and private organisations were also in attendance.
As in preceding years, the annual event affords the opportunity for the
media administrators to recognise and thank outstanding members in their
various fields including print, broadcast and electronic media.
People from many other professions and organisations are also recognised
for their sacrifice and dedication not only to the media world but also
for their contribution and support of the community as a whole.
The Eastern Mass Media Association of Thailand was established in 1997
and in 11 years has developed and improved contacts between the press
and government and private organizations, charity organizations,
associations, foundations, clubs and other groups in the region. It has
also set up a foundation to look after the welfare of members and their
families.
Awards this year went to many organisations in the Pattaya and Sriracha
areas, the most noteworthy being the Tourism Authority of Thailand
Central Region 3 Office (Pattaya) who received an award for the Best
Public Relations and Promotion Department.
Amongst the recipients of ‘Outstanding Business Administrator for
promoting goodwill and friendship amongst the masses in the eastern
region of Thailand in 2007’ were Sopin Thappajug, MD of the Diana Group
in Pattaya, Poramet Ngampiches, former MP of Chonburi province, Dr.
Thanakom Manthananon, President of Phyathai Sriracha Hospital and
Pratheep Malhotra, Managing Director of the Pattaya Mail Publishing Co.,
Ltd.
There were also honorary awards given for the best outstanding
institutes of education and most important, the various members of the
mass media in the eastern region of Thailand.
This is the 9th consecutive award that Pratheep “Peter” Malhotra has
received an EMMA award on behalf of the Pattaya Mail and the 5th for
Pattaya Blatt.
Pratheep said he was proud and happy to receive such recognition from
the association and says that a successful administrator must have good,
supportive and dedicated staff to be able to accomplish company’s set
goals. “This is an award for all of us in the Pattaya Mail, Pattaya
Blatt and PMTV. We have won it together.”
Peter says, “The Pattaya Mail Media Group has long been working closely
with the community. We aim to give knowledge to the public, Thais and
foreigners alike, as widely and effectively as we can. Only with the
sharing of information amongst the masses can we create understanding
amongst the different peoples, which will ultimately lead to world
peace.”

Manit Bunprasert, manager of the Cement Thai Roofing Center, said staff
will offer advice on all types of roof, on calculating a budget for
installation, and for designing and installing a framework for the roof.
Manit added that during this month the center will open two more
branches, in Ubon Ratchathani and Nakhon Pathom, and after this
expansion will continue with outlets in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Phuket and
Rayong.
Also scheduled is a name change for SCG, which will become the Ban Chang

corporate symbol for the company, and that the name change reflected
this.
