Thank you city hall

To Letters Editor;
We all need to thank city hall and Buntawee Singkhon-Art, as they are doing a wonderful job. First, they are sucking out most of the storm drains of the cigarettes and garbage before they spray, clean and flush into the ocean. This is a win, win situation. No local flooding and no waste going into our ocean.
It is hard work, Buddha, God, children and the wildlife, along with KOTO, thank city hall, mak mak. We are all starting to wake up and realize we all need to take care. City hall is doing their part, now it is up to us. If we all start a little bit of Waster-Sizing, bending at the waist to pick up the waste and getting rid of both, we and the land would look much better.
The life of the people is in the land. Smokers, please dispose of your filters in a proper manner, and all of us, pack it in and pack it out, we have the power and the people, lets all walk the walk.
The old man of the sea sees changes for the better every day.

Where are the boys in brown?

Editor;
It would seem that Pattaya City Thailand, the city of brotherly love, is going through some growing pains and the gangs and criminals are winning, so watch yourself when you’re out on the town.
These are only the crimes that were newsworthy for the last 6.5 weeks. I think you would be safe to double this or triple this figure and you would still not have the correct number. But there was an improvement this month only: 2 hit and runs, 19 robberies, 18 armed robberies, 10 snatch and grabs, 3 attempted murders, 10 drug arrests, 5 sex crimes or rapes, 8 murders by drunk drivers, 11 murders or mysterious deaths, 8 weapon assaults and 5 weapon charges.
Not sure where you come from but the city I come from (pop. about 100,000) in the U.S.A. has not seen this much crime in the last 50 years.
Why do the police refuse to do anything about the crime in our city? You don’t see crime like this in Hua Hin or Chang Mai or Chang Rai, so why Pattaya? This city needs help and it needs help NOW.

We do not understand Pattaya

Editor;
My husband Steve and I do not understand Pattaya, nor do we understand the lack of law in this town. The biggest question rolling in Steve’s head besides what I’m going to make for dinner, is why Anuchit (the Thai man who confessed to shooting dead two Russian tourists) was allowed to leave jail on bail when he committed a robbery with a gun not more than two weeks prior. It gives another side of Amazing Thailand.
What’s even more amazing is that Anuchit easily acquired another firearm for the Russian murder. Anuchit and others like him are what makes both Steve and I afraid to come to Pattaya. The crime and drunken driving is so beyond the mark that we sadly have decided to visit Bali next year where we will be much safer. If two dead Russian women is what it takes for the local police to do real police work, then the only way the town will get cleaned up, is if every other citizen is murdered.

Dirty water

Dear Newspapers,
On Saturday 10th March 2007 I was driving down Jomtien Beach Road during a period of heavy rain. Near Soi Welcome, about half way along Jomtien Beach Road, there was rainwater run off going out into the ocean. This section is extremely popular with tourists, and if you see the attached photo, you’ll see what they have to put up with.
The drainage system here in Thailand, especially Pattaya, a very popular tourist destination leaves something to be desired. It is purely disgusting what has happened, hence I feel obliged to let everyone know about this disgrace. The stuff you see running into the ocean is not (only) rain water; it is obviously (also) sewerage from the nearby homes and motels.
A few weeks ago Pattaya had 2 Russian Tourists murdered. Normally things like this are not newsworthy, but the killing of these two girls made worldwide news. All of a sudden the police, a lot of police were on hand to investigate. Simply because the world was watching.
Now, hopefully with these pics, the local council can fix this before there is an influx of sick people, and also dead sea life. Someone needs to be held accountable.
Thank you for your time.
Best Regards,
Concerned Foreigner
