were welcomed by the traditional reception from the officials of Langkawi
and Kedah State.

Thai AirAsia recently launched flights between Bangkok and Langkawi, the
airline’s 10th international destination, with flights every Tuesday,
Thursday and Saturdays.
On
this auspicious occasion Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, (left) the CEO of Thai
AirAsia exchanged gift of appreciations with YAB Dato’ Seri Mahdzir bin
Khalid, the chief minister of Kedah State.
Thai Air Asia is now working closely with Langkawi’s
tourism office to publicize the island’s many attractions.
“By servicing direct flights between Bangkok and Langkawi, The airline
brings in more Thai and other nationalities to the island, which will
definitely bring in revenues to the local industries”, said YAB Dato’ Seri
Mahdzir bin Khalid, the chief minister of Kedah state.
“We
have chosen Langkawi because of its popularity with Thai and foreign
tourists”, said the CEO of Thai AirAsia.
Mr. Tassapon Bijleveld, the CEO of Thai AirAsia added to the reporters
during the press conference held in Langkawi, “We have started the
Bangkok-Langkawi route with three flights per week, but there is the
potential to increase the flights to daily within six months. Langkawi was
chosen because of its popularity with Thai and foreign tourists. Millions of
tourists who visit Bangkok every year go on to visit neighboring cities and
Langkawi is among their most popular choices.”
