Drop in Center kids treated to weird and wonderful animals

The children get up close to weird and wonderful animals.

Hey, this is fun!

This exotic bird attracted quite a crowd.

Even the PILC women managed to get (somewhat) close to the slippery, slithering creatures.

Wow, this is heavy.

I’m not scared – really, really…

How many kids does it take to hold up a huge yellow snake?

This snake is much smaller, but it’s still beautiful.

Keep a firm grip on that head.

On Friday 16th March the Pattaya International Ladies Club took 30 children, all neatly dressed in their new Jesters Care For kids black tee shirts which promote the Jesters “10 year” anniversary for this September’s children’s fun day, kindly supplied by Woody, and 2 staff members to the fabulous newly opened “Monster World” on Sukhumvit Road.

These children currently live in the Redemptorist St Kids Drop in Center on Pattaya Klang, opposite Carrefour.

The staff at Monster World treated the children to an array of weird and wonderful animals with some very up close and personal moments! These included having a huge yellow skinned python draped around their necks!

The children loved the experience and I think they were quite brave. I am sure they learnt a lot about the creatures that are living in this amazing place.

Thitisak, the manager of the place and his staff were full of amazing facts and were very knowledgeable on all the animals they have housed there.

I would like to thank Thitisak and his staff and also Mari, Erin, Fiona and Kathleen for helping out on the day. Also thanks to Woody and the Jesters for supplying the tee shirts.

Thanks also to Judy Hoppe for donating goods to the garage sale at St Andrews School; with the funds raised we were able to take these kids on this worthwhile outing.

This New Year starts off with a great new project for the Pattaya International Ladies Club Welfare Team. Among the many projects we will help fund, Noang Kaboag School in Rayong is a very worthwhile and needy case.

David Cotterell (left) and the school headmaster inspect the damage.

This school had a major fire in their canteen/multipurpose room in January. Extensive damage was done to this room by this fire, which was caused by a fault in the electrical system in the building.

The government has stepped up to cover the cost of the restructuring needed to get this building back to its original state, but sadly the funding does not cover the electrical system.

David Cotterell, manager of project delivery, and the team at Shedden Uhde (Thailand) Ltd have filled this void with the funding that is required to make the electrical system safe and functional again.

The school had a major fire in their canteen/multipurpose room in January.

Shedden Uhde (Thailand) Ltd. is a company situated in Maptaput. It’s a leading international engineering and project delivery contractor that has its parent company in Melbourne Australia and is working in a wide range of environments on both a large and small scale. From concept evaluation through to plant commissioning and start up it provides services covering industries such as oil and gas, off shore and onshore, refineries, chemicals and minerals.

Pattaya International Ladies Club was very fortunate that this company provided 95,000 baht towards the repair and maintenance of the electrical system required for this school. Our gratitude goes to Shedden Uhde and especially to David for helping with this project.

The work required will begin in the Thai school holidays and I look forward to showing you the finished product in the near future.
