Villagers distressed by odors from landfill
Villagers at Khao Mai Kaew have once again complained about bad odors emanating
from the garbage disposal area and have pleaded with city hall to do something
that would eradicate the problem.
Their complaint was discussed on May 15 at the Pattaya City Council General
Assembly Meeting.
Jamnian Geetheepakul, chief executive of the Khao Mai Kaew Sub-district
Administrative Organization addressed the gathering on the problem that the
city’s landfill is posing for the villagers. The odor he said is seeping through
the entire neighborhood, and residents are desperate for a solution to be found.

The Chefs’ Association will stage the inaugural Pattaya Food and Hotelier
Expo cooking competition in July, an event that will showcase chefs in
Pattaya City and the Eastern provinces and also to help raise cooking
standards to international levels.

Fall rises to the occasion (as always)!
The retiring British Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. David Fall, addressed
a meeting of the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT), held in
the Hall of Fame room of the Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya. While he would
deny vigorously that he was ‘famous’, David Fall was probably the most
amusing after-dinner speaker that the Hard Rock and BCCT have ever had.

Three Pattaya Orphanage students set off for Australia under the auspices of the R.O.S.E. Program
Three children left Thailand on May 19 for Australia as part of a
program to further their studies arranged by the Father Ray Foundation
in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Eaglehawk in Bendigo, Australia
and the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya.

Games in the Philippines, was again on top form at the Pattaya Mountain Bike
Downtown 2007 competition, held May 12-13 at the Chalermprakiat Public Park on
Pratamnak Mountain.
