Thumbs up for Pattaya Police
Editor;
To the two traffic policeman who worked the South Pattaya / 2nd. Rd.
intersection on Monday (2.7.07) night 22.30: Congratulations for going after
the street rowdies going through the red light with no respect for people on
the road or any traffic laws!
Thanks to all police departments, the situation in Pattaya has been
improving in many respects a lot in the last 6 months.
Instead of complaining - this seems to be the “Complaints-Capital” of the
world - maybe it was time to acknowledge changes for the better and once in
while say thank-you or give some praise and support for an often hard and
unpleasant job well done!
Thanks and keep going Pattaya Police!

Disregard for beach cleanliness not restricted to any nationality
Mr KOTO seems to believe that all the garbage he cleans
off the beaches is placed there by Farangs. Perhaps I could enlighten him.
Please go down to Rayong province and visit the long beaches down there,
particularly after any Thai holiday, You would be disgusted by the amount of
garbage that is left on the beach, even after the local authority built a
large number of garbage bins. I would estimate that for every Farang that
visits these beaches there are a hundred Thais. You may also keep in mind
that even though Pattaya and Jomtien are tourist areas there are
considerably more Thais than Farangs visiting these areas. I often see Thai
people throwing rubbish onto the ground within 5 metres of a garbage bin,
while most Farangs will walk to the bins and dispose of rubbish properly.
So Mr. KOTO, instead of being ashamed of Farangs maybe you should look at
the real cause of the major pollution.
As for the visa rules, you may want to do a little reading up before making
statements that make little sense and only serve to anger the many Farangs
here who are actively involved in the community, regardless of the almost
blatant xenophobia shown by Thai authorities.

Freddie Clark
Aloha To All
This is KOTO, Keeper of the ocean, at this time I am out
of the country and I hope some of you are Waster-Sizing, bending at the
Waist, to pick up the Waste and getting rid of both, It is up to us to what
kind of world we want to wake up to each day, do what you can to improve the
life of the people and the wildlife, it is in our hands.
Buddha and God Bless you all. The life of the people is in the land. Help me
save the ocean, which will save us.
Mahalo Nui Loa, (Thank you very much)
Volunteer to serve
Respected sir,
My name is Mr Venugopal Lakshmipuram, Self Management Human Trainer and
Motivator and a social worker from India. I happened to visit Bangkok and
Pattaya in the recent past. as a tourist and I enjoyed the beautiful and
holy places of Thailand.I simply fell in love with the country and its
friendly inhabitants.
What really worried me are teenage girls involving in flesh business and
selling their bodies for want of money so that they look rich. If this
continues they may have no future. Many of girls are used to smoking,
drinking alcohol and so on…
So far I’ve trained more than 500,000 people particularly youth from
different walks of life and got amazing results.
I would like to volunteer and render my services to bring social
reformation. If required I’ll send my profile for your kind perusal. Please
inform the concerned officials regarding my letter and my interest.
I love Thailand, the people of Thailand and your beloved King.

Satisfied with baht bus services
Dear Sir,
My Thai wife and I have only lived in Pattaya since 1986 so we don’t have
the expertise espoused by some of the letter writers; however, I was more
than a bit concerned that Baht bus drivers were referred to as “uncouth” and
other unsavory characteristics. My own experience of some 20 years using
Baht buses has been nothing but satisfactory. When a driver tells me 50 or
100 baht to drive some short distance I smile and say “Mai Pai Khap (Khrap)”
and look to the next bus. I neither give him the finger nor call him a dirty
name. I do not feel he is a crook because he tried to get a “premium”. It
costs more than US $5.00 just to get into a cab in San Francisco and then
the meter begins to run at rather expensive clicks. People who come to
Thailand with an attitude should either leave the attitude at home or go
back home. We never had the murders and crime seen now when there were fewer
expatriates so if you have more on your mind than enjoying the country and
its people, pack up and move on.
Pattaya Paul
