It was appropriately ghostly on Halloween night but in the sense that there
was not much going on to mark the occasion on Pattaya streets on October 30.
Even though there were the usual crowds at all the nightlife areas, only
some entertainment establishments responded to the special night to provide
some spooky fun for their customers.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not at the Royal Garden Plaza in Pattaya naturally
put on Halloween cerebrations attracting many tourists. Shows were performed
by their ghostly actors, dancing to haunting music, scaring people and
taking souvenir pictures.
The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation held a coffin night to raise
money to donate coffins for people who have no kin.
Staff members at the Hard Rock Cafe and the Green Bottle Pub at the Diana

response to Halloween as “Hallo Wheel Halloween Contest”.
Walking Street in South Pattaya is usually a hub for tourist fun but there
were very few people dressed as ghosts or witches this year.
In fact it was all rather dead.
The world’s best staff party?
Welcome to my lair…
Dr. Iain Corness
Halloween is a time for outrageous parties, but the (not yet opened)
dusitD2 baraquda hotel hosted the mother of all staff parties on Halloween.
The MD (called ‘Guru’) Paolo Randone met everyone, explaining that the hotel
was not finished, but since they were going to have a staff party, decided
to invite some selected members of the public to join them.
Be
sure to keep an eye out for ghoulies and goblins.
On arrival, those not in appropriate Halloween costume were fitted with a
set of multicolored Dr. Spock ears and some face paint and then propelled
into some kind of time warp, as if they had stepped on to the stage in the
middle of the Rocky Horror Show with Frank N. Furter coming down the stairs.
Outlandish costumes, over-the-top melodrama, and an enthusiastic cast
brought cheers from the even more enthusiastic audience, made up of some of
Pattaya’s more liberated souls. Halloween, after all, is the ideal time to
liberate a soul or two!
Stars

Guru Paolo himself was dressed in a Lucifer outfit, complete with horns and
a flowing black cloak, whilst Spa manager Charin Sangsuwan gave everyone the
evil eye. Other staff members strutted their stuff in silver lame or black
cocktail dresses (HR ‘Whizz’ Nui being even more spectacular with silver
flecked blue face), lads in gold brace and bibs, blue spandex or even the
lovely lass in the skimpy black with suspender belt and black stockings.
In between the rock numbers, I actually had a quick tour with Lucifer as my
guide. Let me assure you that Pattaya is going to get a hotel like it has
never had before. Soft opening is December 1. I can’t wait! I’ll even
forgive them for not being able to spell ‘barracuda’!
Miss Teens win hearts

Dressed in their best “doll’s costumes” following the theme of
“presents from the stars,” 50 finalists in this year’s Miss Teen Thailand
competition paraded their best before the judges at the Nong Nooch Tropical
Gardens on October 26.

Top spot for the day went to fifteen-year-old Thiprat Amatayakun who
fluttered quite a few hearts and collected the first prize of 10,000 baht in
cash and gifts. Runner-up was Nathaya Vochanyakun, 18.
The finals were scheduled for October 31 in Bangkok.
It’s the 20th year of the competition organized by Inspire Entertainment Co.
Ltd. to select teenage girls of 15-18 years of age for their “ability,
beauty and personality,” opening the door for many to entertainment, fashion
and advertising careers.
The Pattaya selection sojourn was from October 23-26 in which the young
contestants visited Horseshoe Point, watched a performance at the Alangkarn
Theatre, visited Under Water World and joined in activities at Nong Nooch
Tropical Gardens.
The girls planted trees and picked up trash at Koh Larn Island, being
accommodated for their stay at the Nusa Playa Spa.
Pattaya Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh served on the judging panel as the
girls paraded on the stage at Nong Nooch in the local finale.
The national finals were held at the Sofitel Hotel in Bangkok on October 31.
Sixteen year-old Sornsin ‘Manow’ Maneewan, a student from Suphanburi, won
the Miss Teen Title crown along with 120,000 baht cash and prizes.
First runner-up was 15-year-old Thanit ‘Cream’ Thanasophon who won 70,000
baht cash and prizes. Cream also won the miss photogenic award.
It was too difficult a choice to pick just one 2nd-runner-up, so the judges
awarded three contestants: 16-year-old Natwanthorn ‘Modsom’ Thaicharoen,
15-year-old Thiparat ‘Luaktan’ Amatayakul, 15-year-old Jada Intero. They all
received 50,000 baht cash and valuable prices from sponsors.
