PCEC offered fitness packages

Master of Ceremonies Hawaii Bob Sutterfield welcomed everyone to the Sunday September 5 meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant. After the usual opening announcements, he called on Prem Busarakamwongse from Fairtex Sports & Racquet Club.

Emcee Hawaii Bob introduces Prem Busarakamwongse from Fairtex Sports & Racquet Club.

Prem has a Bachelor in Business Management with a major in Marketing. Prem with his father manages Fairtex, which fits into his main interests for Thai boxing, tennis, basketball, and fitness. He is also well known in Thailand, having appeared in the music video “YOM” by Tata Young in 2007 and featured on the cover of Men’s Health. He has also appeared in several movies and a TV drama series.

Prem started by saying that his father, Bunjong Busarakamwongse, ran a Muay Thai training camp for boxers for 35 years. In 2005, he built the Fairtex Sports & Racquet Club as a place where one could enjoy both sports and fitness. Fairtex also continues to train Muay Thai boxers.

When Fairtex first opened, they had contracted out the management. Prem said a little over a year ago, he and his father took over the direct management of Fairtex.

He described some of the many activities offered at Fairtex. Although the facilities can be used on a shorter including daily basis for a fee he said that they have two annual packages that he felt would be of more interest for expats living in Pattaya. One is the 8,999 baht Fitness Package. The other is the 18,000 baht All Sports Package. The Fitness package gives you access to all their fitness equipment and facilities such as aerobic activities, steam and sauna, body pump, body combat, and more. The All Sport package gives you the Fitness access plus access to all their sport facilities such as tennis, squash, basketball, rock climbing, swimming pool, and more.

Prem said that they will offer PCEC members a 10% discount on the Fitness package and a 20% discount on the All Sports package. He also said they have other Fairtex plans, such as the family plan, that they may be able to offer Club members at a 10-15% discount. The facilities are available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Prem concluded the presentation by showing several pictures of the facilities and commenting on the major activities that were available. Fairtex is located on Pattaya North Road a short distance from the Dolphin traffic circle and their website is http://www.fairtexpattaya.com/

After Prem answered several questions from the audience, Richard Smith discussed arranging a tour of their facilities after a regular Sunday meeting; Prem said that he would be happy to arrange for the tour.

Hawaii Bob then called on Judith Edmonds to conduct the always informative and sometimes humorous Open Forum, where questions about living in Thailand and Pattaya in particular are asked and answered.
