Jesters Care for Kids Charity Drive 2012, Sponsored by Glencore International and Canadian Jackalope Open

Bernie Tuppin

At a recent meeting of the YWCA at Diana Garden Resort, Jesters Care for Kids’ Project Advisor Bernie Tuppin presented Praichit Jetpai, President of Pattaya YWCA, with funds to support a combined project.

This project is to give dental care to the children of Khao Baisri Special Education Centre for disabled kids in Plutaluang. The initiative for this undertaking came from YWCA who enlisted the help of the dental staff at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya to travel to the facility and examine the dental health of some 40 children, 17 of whom were found to require treatment. Bangkok Hospital Pattaya has kindly offered to carry out this treatment at a hugely discounted rate and to provide free checkups at 3 monthly intervals in the future.

Boonchu of the Khao Baisri centre and the YWCA will undertake the travel arrangements and the Jesters will pay for the treatment of 27,500 baht. This is another fine example of concerned groups working together to assist the underprivileged. The Jesters Care for Kids are proud to be involved and thank all the other participants for their efforts.

Redemptorist Vocational School collects lunch bookings at Father Ray commemoration event

Fr. Michael Picharn Jaiseri, vice-president of the Father Ray Foundation, welcomes honored guests to the Aug. 4 event.

Phasakorn Channgam

The Redemptorist Vocational School marked the ninth anniversary of the death of Father Raymond Brennan by holding a “ruam nam jai” (gathering of spiritual goodness”) day to invite people to donate funds for lunches for Father Ray Foundation students.

Fr. Michael Picharn Jaiseri, vice-president of the Father Ray Foundation, welcomed MP Poramet Ngampichet and Pattaya City Councilman Rattanachai Suthidechanai to the Aug. 4 event.

The event, to which the Foundation’s nearly 3,000 graduates were invited to return to, saw the foundation collect 26 bookings from people wanting to provide lunch for disabled students.

“The ruam nam jai activity is one of the many activities organized for Father Ray’s ninth-year commemoration, a time when we all reminisce his goodness and kindness in having dedicated his entire life in helping the disabled to achieve opportunities, get an education, work and not be a liability of the society,” Rattanachai said.

“All of you are considered to have carried on the hard work of Father Ray to stability, particularly, the former disciples treating lunch today,” he added. “It is much more inspiring to see Father Ray’s children returning to express their loyalties and love to the man and the school.”

Pattaya City Councilman Rattanachai Suthidechanai addresses the assemblage.

Many honored guests and former disciples attend the event.

Students offer their encouragement.
