Tazed by volunteers
Editor;
Re: Rogue police volunteers beat 2 teens in mistaken identity (PM Friday, 24
August 2012)
Pattaya “volunteer” police are no good! At one time they were, but now they
think they are the police! I was tazed 5 times by these idiots for throwing
rose petals on the ground. They said I was littering the streets after one
of their countrymen complained of the roses, so in defense of the London
volunteer police friend they harassed me and eventually tazed me. Thai
people saw it and protested this and I was let go, but after being tazed.
Never will I go there again I have been over 25 times since 1998 and have
seen the country deteriorate ... sorry to see such a wonderful place turn so
bad and corrupt!

Re: Tree hacking continues under guise of ‘security’ (PM Friday, 24 August
2012)
I like trees but the trees were planted and got t0o big. If you were here
before they were planted and had seen the view of beach it was much nicer.
But they had no sewer plant then and the smells could not make up for the
view. Let’s hope for the best. Plant some trees to make up for the loss of
the Beach Road trees in a spot they will not be a problem. I did enjoy the
shade on the walk down Beach Road but it was hard to see the beach. We are
at the beach but they planted a forest?

Who in their right mind…

Re: No more long walks on the beach promenade (Mailbag, PM Friday, 31 August
2012)
Who in their right mind would do this to a beach town with 35 degree days?
Can the police not do their jobs to ensure safety on the beach? Disgraceful
and those in charge should be ashamed and embarrassed but they won’t be.

Re: Buffalo racers splash past Mabprachan Reservoir (PM Friday, 31 August

I would have liked to watch the buffalo racing, but why is it that you never
know what’s going on in Pattaya unless you happen to drive past or live
right next to the event?

Only outcome, more crime

Re: Cabinet raises alcohol, cigarette taxes (PM Friday, 31 August 2012)
Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong told reporters the tax hikes were
aimed at boosting government revenue and cutting consumption, while also
squeezing out cheaper imported booze and smokes. Therein lies the parallax.
Boost revenue and cut consumption? If consumption drops below the level
required to increase revenue, what next? Stop copying looney governments
like that of the UK. Only one outcome, more crime!

Driving tourists away?

Re: Tree hacking continues under guise of ‘security’ (PM Friday, 24 August

Well done Mr Makara Yawapee for ruining an area which provided shade from
the tropical sun when walking down Beach Road. I imagine it’s another City
Hall plan to drive the tourists away from Pattaya and a suggestion of pure
optimism that you plant other trees to replace the ones destroyed.

Stop jet ski hire

Stop jet ski hire all together - maybe have rides only. That should fix the
problem.

US Republican Party
Editor;
There is more than meets the eye with the way the Republican Party in the
U.S. performs. Why has an obviously intelligent group of politicians made
Biblical - era morality part of their platform? Today even-some churches
have options for dealing with immoral embarrassments, not the Republicans.
Perhaps these extreme conservatives have discovered the magical formula that
will put them out on top. Does that magical formula include a symbiotic
relationship with fundamentalists who happen to be a high percentage of the
American people? The symbiotic agreement might provide Republicans with a
win in elections and provide fundamentalists with government silence when it
comes to spreading religious immorality. I’m afraid this type of immorality
not only exists in America but in other counties that have a government
relationship with religion.
I haven’t heard one politician in America say one thing about religious
immorality. Does that mean that religion is already too powerful to be
criticized? Humanity, I’m sure, would forever be grateful if at long last we
had religious courts to hand down strict rules for separation of church and
state, and more secular societies.

Family resort
needs restrooms
Editor;
I have visited Thailand and Pattaya 27 times. The major thing missing to
make this a world class family resort are free beach public toilets. How do
you expect to attract women and families with children when they have to pay
to use the restroom? Preposterous!
