Chonburi Immigration officers have arrested a British pedophile in Thailand who had fled the UK after being charged with sexually abusing a 13 year old girl in England.
They found 73-year old Roderick William Robinson at a room at the V & M Terrace on Soi Buakhao in Central Pattaya.
He was a prohibited immigrant, and his right to stay in the Thai Kingdom had been cancelled. This was done after the SOCA (Serious Organised Crime Agency) in the UK asked the Chonburi Immigration Police for cooperation to investigate arrest and extradite Robinson for procedures back in England.
73-year old British national, Roderick William Robinson (seated), is detained by Chonburi Immigration officers.
After the arrest, Pol. Col. Shusak Phanatamphorn revealed that Robinson was a former ships captain in England, and had retired with a Non-immigrant visa to stay in Thailand.
Later on, the Commander in Chief of Immigration Office 3 cancelled his visa, because his characteristics prohibited him as an immigrant under Immigration Act B.E. 2522.
From the investigation and upon examining his record, it showed that he had been imprisoned and obtained bail. In the latest news he had been arrested in Portugal on March 30, 2010 and extradited to Australia. He obtained bail again before escaping to hide in Thailand.
During primary questioning, Robinson remained silent. The officers will now inform the British Embassy in Thailand in order that further operations can be taken to extradite him for procedures according to the law.
