Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin will visit Su-ngai Kolok in Narathiwat province and Rantau Panjang in Kelantan of Malaysia, for official discussions with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on August 3rd.

This visit follows previous bilateral engagements aimed at enhancing cooperation and development in the border regions of both countries.

Government Spokesperson Chai Wacharonke stated that the visit aims to promote peace and development in Thailand’s southern border provinces and Malaysia’s northern states.

Key discussion points will include increasing trade, investment, tourism, and connectivity between the two nations. A significant focus will be on the proposed construction of a second bridge over the Golok River to improve cross-border transportation and economic activity.

This visit builds on earlier interactions, including a joint visit to the Sadao checkpoint in Songkhla and Bukit Kayu Hitam in Malaysia in November of last year, and bilateral talks during the Nikkei Forum in Tokyo in May this year. The prime ministers are committed to fostering sustainable economic growth and improving the livelihoods of people in these regions through collaborative projects.
