The Wellcome Collection has selected a few of the 17,000 skeletons from the Museum of London’s collection that spans sixteen centuries. Through careful forensic analysis, each skeleton reveals its own story, allowing fascinating insights into the times in which they lived and the health hazards of the day - from syphilis to smallpox and rickets.
2# Pakistan burn victims turn beauticians.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan found that in 2007, at least 33 women were burned in acid attacks, and 45 were set on fire. But the statistics are likely an undercount, since many cases go unreported for various reasons including the victims’ fear of the attackers, or because they can’t afford the legal bills. Now some victims are being given the hope of a better future and a career, thanks to one woman’s desire to help.

Horizons:
1# Canadian car study shows that older drivers are safer.
When it comes to getting exceptional performance and value from their vehicles, younger drivers would do well to adopt the maintenance habits of their elders.
A recent study in Canada shows that drivers over the age of fifty are more knowledgeable about vehicle maintenance and ways of reducing costly fuel-consumption than younger drivers.
The study, conducted by Car Care Canada, finds older drivers understand the needs of their cars more than any other age group.
It seems they know that regular maintenance not only means superior performance and improved safety but with today’s high fuel prices, they’re coming out ahead.
2# A battle of religious wills in a Spanish city.
Every day hundreds of Muslims in the Spanish city of Badalona squeeze into at a tiny local mosque to pray. Members of the community say the fast rise in their population means they’ve outgrown their small mosque.
Now they want to persuade their neighbours and the local authorities to allow them to construct a bigger building, which could also be used for social and cultural events.
