Monday, Jan. 3, Century Chonburi – Stableford
As we all assembled on the first tee there were two six-balls waiting to tee off in front of us so we made some rearrangements to our own groupings and set off for a four and a half hour round.
Peter Pedder took out division 1 today with 36 points, with Chris Voller in second place one point behind and Howard Stanley was in third a further point back.
Miss Nut and Herme Fitzgerald – the ladies winners at Eastern Star on Friday.
The same winning score won division 2 for Fred Duffy, with keep it in the family, Mike Fitzgerald second on 35 and the other half Herme third with 34.
Les Utting birdied the fourth for the only ‘2’ in division 1 while with a rollover in division 2 Fred Duffy was smiling after his birdie on the 13th.
Near pins went to John Chambers, Howard Stanley, Les Utting, William Chang, Herma Fitzgerald, Les Smith and Dave Taylor.
Friday, Jan. 7, Eastern Star – Stableford
There were 6 ladies out today and 36 men in three divisions with a cut of 9-14 in division 1, 15-20 in division 2 and 21 plus in the third division. Playing conditions were perfect again with a cool breeze coming in from the north.
Playing off 20, Herma Fitzgerald won the ladies division with 35 points, with Miss Nut second on 32. Marty Rock was top man in division 1 with 31 points after beating Donal Lyne on a 18/15 count-back and Mikael Andersson beat Ya Riley on a 18/15 count-back for second after they both scored 30 points.
The highest score of the day was in division 2 with Andy Galvin winning with 38 points, Don Head in second on 33 and Bruce Gardner came third after beating Andy O’Neill and Bryan Rought on a 18/17/16 count-back, all on 32 points.
Sean Bambury was the victor in division 3 with 34 points, with Chris Reed beating Joe Kubon 19/16 on the back nine for the runner-up spot after they both shot 30 points.
Near pins went to Herma Fitzgerald, Evelyn McNamara, Mikael Andersson (2), Howard Stanley, Martin Rock, Mike Fitzgerald and Chris Reed.
There was a rollover in the ‘2’s from last week here at Eastern Star in division 2 and no winners again today so all to play for next Friday. In division 1 Mikael Andersson, Paul Butler and Ya Riley shared the pot.
