The leaders from the previous week went out in reverse order of the field, with the contenders, therefore off last. It was Thierre Petrement, Paul Crijns and Dale Hoek in the final group and then ‘Broad more’ Bob, Colm Mullen and Jim ‘No’ Bell.
Thierry started out with a double bogie and another double and completed a gross 44 for the front nine. Meanwhile Dale started bogie-double bogie-birdie and did not give away another shot thereafter for a gross 40. Paul’s nightmare treble bogie-double bogie, and another treble on the eighth for a gross 51 ended his chances. He came back strongly but he had left himself too much to do and ended with a gross 44. Dale’s three double bogies on the inward nine gave him a gross 43. Thierre managed to steady the ship a bit as he carded a gross 41.

And so it was Thierre Petrement who had his name etched on the perpetual trophy, with defending champion Dale Hoek taking the runners up spot.
In the Plate, Sayer Gill coupled a 37pt first day outing with his 34 points for a total over the two days of 71 points. The red hot fist day winner Colin ‘the donkey’, with 68 points, took second place as Lou Zigzag filled the podium a stroke short.
A special mention goes to Jim Bell who won the “No Bell Prize for Economics.”

Tuesday, March 6, Greenwood – Stableford

A modest and to be honest a disappointing number turned out to play the monthly Golf Club and Lewiinski’s two day stableford at Greenwood. Aussie Tony Gliddon led the senior flight with a best on the day 39 points. Tony was four strokes clear of Dave Palmer.
B Flight honours went to the Welsh Wizard Mike Jeffreys on 37 points while Mikko Mutanen edged Gavin Wright for the sliver and last podium place.
Shi Chudbamia slotted home the only ‘2’ of the day.
Friday, March 9, Greenwood – Stableford

B Flight found the Greenwood course extremely hard to master as Warren Holland and the out of tune Geoff ‘Elvis’ Kubas managed just 31 points apiece. Warren’s points total had a better inward nine dispersal than Geoff’s. To say that Peter Henshaw was gob-smacked to collect the bronze on 30 points would be an understatement.
The premier flight showed why it is called that today as it provided the only player to better par and three others that played to it. David Shelton’s 37 points proved to be the day’s top score while Peter ‘the right honorable’ Hynard, Greg Bates and Tony Gliddon were all logged jammed with even par rounds – Peter emerging from the heap to grab the silver as Greg Bates took the bronze.
Tony was not left out in the cold however as his 36 points added to his first day 39 gave him the lead crystal two day winner’s trophy.
Peter Hynard and Ken Aihara split the 2’s pot.
