Art or vandalism?

When it comes to graffiti, the answer has depended on who you ask, ever since spray painters began tagging walls, train cars and other flat surfaces back in the 1960s.

Today, graffiti is alive and well in Thailand, as walls around Pattaya can attest. Most Thais have accepted the colorful designs as art – as long as they aren’t painted on walls belonging to them.

Public officials encourage youths or others with an interest in graffiti to practice it through organized clubs and activities, not randomly throughout the city.
