No problems with NHS

Dear Ed,

The first letter you received re the NHS was not right at all. I left England at the age of 30 in 1970 after working there for just 15 years. I lived in Australia for 35 years and Thailand for the last 7 years. I had a heart problem which would cost me 800,000 Thai baht to fix in Chiang Mai. As I did not have that kind of money I wrote to the NHS in England and was told that as I was still a British citizen I was entitled to a new NHS number and any treatment I required. I have had an operation at University Hospital Coventry to replace a heart valve and get another repaired all at no cost to me. I hope that gives some relief to any expats who need hospital or medical treatment.

Yours sincerely,

Derrick Titmus
