BANGKOK, 11 April 2012 -State Railway of Thailand Deputy Governor Viroj Triampongpan is confident that it is safe to ride the train to the three southernmost provinces during Songkran Festival.
According to Mr. Viroj, the SRT has already coordinated with local police and military officers to provide security to passengers and trains en route to Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat.
CCTV cameras have also been installed at various train stations to monitor any unusual activities or people. Mr. Viroj assured passengers who are traveling or returning to their home towns in the southernmost region to stay confident in using the train.
In addition, Mr. Viroj said the SRT has started running 13 bullet-proof locomotives on the route to the three southernmost provinces.
