Bangkok Hospital Pattaya ready for road emergency during Songkran

Bangkok Hospital Pattaya (BHP) joint hands with Banglamung Station and Sawang Boriboon Foundation ready to handle 7 risky days, from 11-17th April, and Wan Lai Festival of Pattaya City, prepared 24 hours on call teams

On 11th April, 2012, at 9:30 am , Supakorn Winwak, MD, deputy director of BHP, presided over the press conference of BHP Accidents and Emergencies Center, ready to handle accidents during Songkran and Wan Lai Pattaya with Piyaporn Thipyarat, MD, director of BHP Accidents and Emergencies Center, Pol. Col. Somnuk Janthages, superintendent of Banglamung station, and Mr. Prasit Thongthitcharoen, president of Sawang Boriboon Thummasathan Foundation, in Building E lobby of BHP,  the hospital had prepared doctors and nurses for serving citizens in transferring accidents’ victims to hospitals and for citizens to trust in the services during Songkran and Wan Lai festival

Supakorn Winwak, MD, deputy director of BHP, stated, ‘ The hospital is ready to handle accidents that may occur anytime during Songkran with the prepared team of specialist doctors including the readiness of General Intensive Care Unit and standard medical equipments with on call doctors for 24 hrs. Citizens and tourists can trust in the quality and standards of the hospital which has been properly accredited. In addition, the hospital had received cooperation from Banglamung Police and Sawang Boriboon Foundation in helping with the traffic for quick patients transfers,’

Pol. Col. Somnuk Janthages, superintendent of Banglamung Station, disclosed, ‘ For the readiness in traffic management and citizens’ safety, I have ordered my officers to help and service citizens to the best of their abilities with strength and speed. There will be officers patrolling, looking out for citizens and tourists including helping with the traffic as during Songkran, citizens would use roads to play water or return to their homeland. I would like to say to citizens that they should not play water carelessly or go overboard. All vehicle drivers should wear helmets and must not consume alcohol for their own safety and safety to others.’

Piyaporn Thipyarat, MD, director of BHP Accidents and Emergencies Center, stated, ‘ BHP Accidents and Emergencies Center has prepared three teams of medical personnel to help during accidents, one of the team will be posted at Sawang Boriboon and the other two will be at the hospital. Last year’s statistics showed that there were 79 Thais and 11 foreigners that elicited services and one of them had died; the cause of their visit was drinking and driving. In addition, on 19th March, the hospital had organized Emergency Medical Technician Basic  Curriculum: EMT-B, training relief officers to a higher level of expertise in handling accidents victims. Therefore, during Songkran citizens are requested to not drink and drive to decrease road accidents.’

Mr. Prasit Thongthitcharoen, president of Sawang Boriboon Thummasathan, disclosed, ‘ The foundation has also prepared for Songkran accidents by setting 26 watch out points all over Pattaya City to service citizens consisting of Banglamung, Rong Po, Nongket Yai, Naklue, Chaiyapruek, Jomtien, North, Central and South Pattaya. The foundation officers have continuously received training  in performing first-aid, even the equipments such as the 30 sets of first-aid tools that had been sponsored by BHP, relief cars, ambulances for 24 hrs, all the preparations have been organized for tourists and citizens to enjoy Songkran’
