PM to chair ESCAP meeting and budget bill deliberation today

BANGKOK, 21 May 2012  – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is today scheduled to chair and deliver inaugural statements at the 68th annual Commission Session of ESCAP under the theme, “Enhancing Regional Economic Integration in Asia and the Pacific” at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok. 

The meeting followed Ms Yingluck’s return from the 4th mobile cabinet meeting in Kanchanaburi province yesterday.

The premier is also set to chair a cabinet meeting today to deliberate on the Budget Bill at the Government House.

Meanwhile, Bhumjaithai party spokesperson Suphachai Chaisamut said that after a meeting with party members and representatives of the National Budget Bureau, the party is planning to question the government’s projected spending for the next fiscal year during the deliberation today.

Mr Suphachai elaborated that the party will begin its session to question the budget bill on projects related to the current government’s water management plans, Thai Medicare card scheme, and budget proposals by the Ministries of Agriculture and Cooperatives and Tourism and Sports. The session is expected to last 3 days.
