Thousands turned out Saturday as local Rotary clubs hosted the third Pattaya International Bed Race.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome opened the amusing scramble of slumbering mats from Central Festival Pattaya Beach to Walking Street. Proceeds from the race went toward Rotary-supported charities.
More than 30 teams participated, with prizes handed out for fastest appearance, creativity, popularity and, of course, the overall winner.
The Pattaya Police Station team won the race itself while the local Department of Special Investigations office took the “most beautiful bed” award. The “most creative” prize went to the team representing Boyz Town and most-popular bed was made up by the Pattaya Expats Club. Tez Tour took the “last runner” prize.
