Defense Minister welcomed Thai troops to Sudan on their return to Thailand

BANGKOK, 11 June 2012 -Defense Ministry Air Chief Marshal Sukhampol Suwannathat has chaired a welcoming cereminy to welcome the return of 812 Thai soldiers of the Thai-Darfur Task Force 980 who have just returned to Thailand. 

The Thai-Darfur Task Force 980 has been part of the United Nations’ peacekeeping mission in Sudan since 2010. Their responsibility has been to protect the Sudanese people from violence and numorous rebel groups. the ACM added that the Thai Army has shown its determination to support the United Nations’ efforts to restore peace in the warn-torn country of Sudan.

He further stated proudly that the troopsy have also propagated His Majesty the King’s sufficiency economy philosophy to the Sudanese people. Their efforts have been praised and recognized as an example for others to follow.
