Thai driver Sandy Kraokaew Stuvik completed his first competitive race weekend for the Trident racing team at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit in Spain on May 15 as the GP3 Series continues as an official support event for 9 of the FIA Formula One World Championship races.
After a difficult qualifying session Stuvik finished in P22, which would make it a challenging weekend as the Spanish circuit is not known for its overtaking opportunities.

Race 1 on Saturday afternoon saw Stuvik getting an amazing launch off his grid spot and begin to climb up the ladder. The first 3 laps were exciting as all the cars were jostling for position before simmering down to conserve tires. Stuvik finished the race in 18th place.
Race 2 took place on Sunday morning and the young Thai driver was positive his start could gain him some places. After another terrific start Stuvik was close to the top ten, but in the end had to settle for 15th place.
“We were disadvantaged by the qualifying so it made our weekend much more difficult. Nevertheless, we made improvements to the car from Race 1 to Race 2 and shows that we will work non-stop to get into the top ten. Now our focus is all towards improving our qualifying performance for Red Bull Ring,” commented Stuvik.
The next event will be at the Red Bull Ring Circuit in Austria from June 7-8, where Stuvik finished in 7th place last year. The young Thai hopes to improve upon that result this time around.
